We get insurance, right?

I had a nasty run in with one last fall. Lucky my HHR is basically a mini-tank. Stupid deer was standing in the middle of the damn road like she owned it right on the other side of a hill. She was BIG and flew almost 30 feet. I've been contemplating getting my license back. My neighbor across the street and his brother go hunting, and they were wondering if I wanted to go. We have a serious overpopulation problem around here. Last year they were handing out Doe permits left and right.

If I throw a GI Joe at a deer, it likely isn't going to feed my family. Collecting guns and then equating it to collecting action figures is absurd. If you collect guns, that's one thing. I'd like to propose an amendment that we can all hide behind; the 34th amendment: All adult males have the right to collect new versions of the action figures they had when they were 10. Or, does that sound silly?
The bullshit I was addressing is that anyone who collects guns, automatic or not, and then pretends it's for protection or to provide food for a family is fooling themselves. You don't live in the third world. You don't need more than one gun for protection or to kill your food. It's likely just to feel tough. Fine. I guess I get that. Let's all just agree to call a spade a spade. |

However, this isn't the place for that discussion.

Sigh. You probably shouldn't be posting in this thread.

But it doesnt really matter, its your opinion only. Its not absurd at all to equate it to toy collecting, its the exact same thing. NOBODY has the right to tell anyone they cant own more than one gun for ANY reason, and if they do they must be trying to fill some kind of void (i.e. small penis, little man syndrome, etc.). Thats a cop-out for sure to try and spread an agenda. If someone wants to own 10 AK's, thats their right. No different than people driving around in Hummers, Vettes, Vipers, Porsches, etc. Can you imagine if this country (read special interest groups) put a ban on or regulated books the way we do guns. NOBODY would stand for it. Its the exact same thing. My guns are tools, nothing more and nothing less, and even if they werent I still live in a country that allows me to own a hundred guns if I so choose. Saying some do it to make up for something might be right for a small few, same with Vette owners, but youre lumping a very small percentage of owners in with the rest of us. Again, a gun is a tool, if someone cant see past that its them with the problem, not the rest of us. OUR problem is people trying to tell us what we can and cant do any why thats OK.

Also, why would it be absurd for me to want to own a fully automatic, or burst capable weapon? I was in the military, I know full well how to use one, and do it responsibly. Why should I be denied that right? You'd think they'd be happy with how much I'd be helping the economy with all that ammo I'd be buying. lol
