I keep a Remington 870 Express on call. I like to keep it handy... for close encounters.
It'll stop somebody in a pinch. We also keep an aluminum Louisville Slugger by the bed. |

What johnny-jack-ass didn't know was that whenever I go to deal on a gun, I don't travel alone, I opened my suit jacket and nudged the Sig P9 forward on my belt, hanging right above my Department of Juvenile Justice ID Badge. Dude, takes one look, sets the gun in the trunk and leaves without a word.
Personal Protection story of the day. Jaysus. Some of the threads on this forum make me cringe. |

Apparently you've never sold a gun using the classified ads. Would have been much better to have this guy over to my house where he could have seen where I have my gun safe and have come back later when I wasn't home. |

I wish I lived in the States...Up here, you need to pass a 2 day course in order to have a safety training. Then, another 2 days for the hunting permit. Then you can only have semi-automatic rifles, no machine guns here...And if you want to own a handgun, you need to be member to gun club and keep it locked there...I just want a AK-74, a sawed off shotgun and a couple of colt .45's in case of a zombie, alien or NWO invasion......I guess I'll just have my machete for now and rob the gun off a dead guy eventually...

I think it's too easy to buy a gun in some states. For the majority of the people who have "personal protection" guns in the U.S. they really have no idea how to use them properly and the guns that they own would more likey than not be a liability in a truly dangerous situation.

I need to moderate myself here a little.
1.) This thread was intended as a forum to share what is used by Tankers for personal protection. 2.) Ideology and philosophy on gun use/ownership was discouraged from the start. I apologize for sharing my personal protection experience here. |

Baretta 9mm... I think somebody called it "erratic", which is true. From recoil to shear weight but it gets the job done.
Remington 12 Gauge (modified) is my preferred protection choice, though. That and a half dozen KA-Bar knives.
