Hey Rockin', I know how you feel to some extent. I've been laid-off for over a year now and there's no sign of getting called back and there was only 20 jobs total listed in the surrounding 10 mile radius on the job service search! One of those jobs was for a stripper at a somewhat local bar during hunting season and since I don't have the required body parts for the job (T&A), I need to resort to something else. So, I'm going back to school to learn a different trade that I can put to good use and find a good paying steady job after graduation. CNC Machine operators just aren't in demand (at least not here) and where I worked was anything but a steady reliable job being laid-off 4 times in the 4 years I worked there!
Just hang in there man, that's all I can say and things will turn around for you especially if you make them. Maybe you could find another job that isn't a teaching job but yet you can use your teaching skills on a daily basis. Just don't limit yourself to just a school teaching job, you may find something better and steadier out there that you would enjoy and still be able to enrich the minds and lives of many.
It's been tough all over as far as jobs go but there is light at the end of this recession, it will get better!

Yeah, half the people I know are out of work, and half of the rest are scraping by however...and I mean people ranging from 28-65 years old.
The business I run is starting to get in a dire situation financially--and it is alcohol based.
Times are hard, and will likely get harder.
Look at it this way...after you get through this-on the other side-you will be better for it. Accept help--after all you paid taxes for years so be willing to accept the benefits that you paid into.
Hell, it took me over a year to find a job after I went back to school. I sold everything I had mostly--now I'm buying back what I miss. Ebay was my job for a year or more.

If all the people on here putting in their support and sharing their stories doesnt help...lets take a look at some fan favorites that have inspired us.
Cobra Commander...this guy had to put a crap load of his so called "friends" in a container and well...kill em! He isnt gonna stop.
Michael Myers...That guy has been trying to kill his sister since day 1, no dice but never gives up!
Jabba The Hutt...Guy liked Capt. Solo right where he was and what happened? He got choked out by a very smokin hot Slave Leia...
The last one really had no relevance to anything, Im clutching at straws for comic relief...ahhh....good times.

I should have added "job that you had had for 10 years"
It's the truth, once you hit bottom there is no where to go but up.
You just have to want to go up.

If it helps any, there are people who have a million times more money than you, own 5 houses, and get laid by more women than you ever will, and they're still unhappy.
At least you know what you want out of life and are striving for it. Pathetic would be if you were so stinking rich that all you did all day was rot in bed because you have nothing to contribute to society and had no place in the world.
I mean, you'd be happy for the first few years, but then you get bored and fat. I don't plan on living past 40, so I don't give a shit about money as much as most others. Fuck people, fuck the cute girl next door, and fuck this world and watch it burn. Just hope the next batch of people that rises from our ashes will have more sense than we did.

Hey, working at McD's ain't your thing? That's cool, but at some point our dreams are gonna have to meet reality. Most of us aren't lucky enough to have a dream job, but we still have to keep moving forward. And if teaching isn't gettin' it done, find a job that will in the meantime. I'm not saying give up, but I would suggest adapting and when the time is right, get back into teaching.
Stay focused and stay busy, brother. We'll all get through this.

I'm not blaming anyone. Just myself. Like I said, as far as teaching goes, I'm doing everything I can. And like I said, I'm even substituting--and I hate it.
