How long should you wait before filing a non paying bidder dispute on ebay? I sold an item on there 5 days ago and havn't even received so much as an email from the buyer.

Have you tried reaching out to them? If not, I'd send an email letting them know if you don't hear from them by Sunday, you'll file a complaint.

As a seller and a buyer myself, I'd say around 5-7 days, if you haven't heard from them...contact them. And if you still haven't heard from them within 48 hours, THEN file a complaint.
As a buyer, I always try to notify the seller of what's going on, but as a seller, I also try to be as cool about it as possible because I know that things happen and in this economy crap happens. So yeah...I'd say wait 5-7 days, then if there's still no payment, contact them. Speaking as a seller and a buyer, I'd say that's reasonable and fair. EDIT: And just to let you know, I'm speaking as a seller who has had to file a complaint. Just be reasonable, especially in this crappy economy. Give your buyers about a week with no contact, then try to get a hold of them and if they don't respond within 2 days or so, then proceed with further action. That is just plain fair. Others will say you should try to screw them within 3-4 days, but I totally disagree as someone who's spent plenty of time on BOTH sides of the equation. It's all about goodwill on BOTH sides.

My personal rule is, after 7 days no payment I resend the invoice. 7 days later open a dispute.

When I sold stuff on E-bay I found 7 Days was my limit before I filed a dispute. If the item gets paid after that, you can always drop your dispute.

For some strange reason I thought Ebay made you wait 10 days before they even take action on a disputed claim.
4-5 days isn't really that long - 7-10 is more realistic. IMO, |

eBay recently allowed disputes to be filed on the 4th the day, and the closed on the 4th day after that.
4-5 days is my policy. If I don't receive any contact nor payment in within 3 days, I'll send a message. Without a response within 24-48 hours, the official UID gets sent. 7 days or more made sense when MOs were allowed, but now that it's all electronic, I see little reason not to pay immediately.

What realy annoys me when i sell anything are the people that bid in the last few seconds and win the auction and then turn their computer off and wait 3-4 days before paying by paypal!
They know they've won, why not spend 30 seconds longer and pay for the damn item! grrrrrr!!!!!!
