“Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have made a difference to the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem.”
Ronald Reagan The United States Marine Corps traces its institutional roots to the Continental Marines of the American Revolutionary War, formed at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress on 10 November 1775, to raise 2 battalions of Marines. From such conspicuous beginning the USMC has grown to be the worlds most premier fighting force. Today is the 234th birthday of the USMC. “to be most ready when the Nation is least ready.” On this day I would like to wish all my brothers in arms, my Marines, those I would go through the gates of hell to save, Happy birthday. Very cool. Anyone who has served or currently serves in our armed forces certainly has my respect.

Just wanted to say happy b-day to all my fellow Devil Dogs! I have been out of the service for 5 years now. Man I miss the crazy stuff that goes down at mixed (officer and enlisted,) Marine Balls. You get that man Marines in one room and add booze and WHAM! Instant good times.
Always thought it would be funny to see Leather Neck and Gun Ho at a Marine Ball and have Wet Suit tag along for shits and giggles. Any Marine that has been to a Ball knows what I am talking about. Best one was 2004, in Iraq. Got in a Fire fight, had Arty and an Air strike. If that doesn't get you pumped then your already dead! And then they waited till Dec 20th to give us our 2 beers and a shot of rum ration! Bastards! Good times! If you have any crazy, funny storys of a Marine Ball you went to post them here. Happy Birthday Devilnuts.
I always hated going to Marine Corps birthday balls. I always hated the "you will pay, you will go, and you will have fun" aspect of it. Honestly though, I always ended up having fun. Again, Happy Birthday fellow Marines. |
