I hope this doesn't start a war.
I'm bidding on 14 items from a particular seller. 3 of those items I just came into from other sources. I emailed the seller and asked permission to cancel bids on those 3 items, but will continue to bid on the remaining 11. He gave me permission and even offered to help in the process. After I cancelled the bids, I recieved a warning from ebay that I could be suspended. What the hell? If the seller allows you too, I cannot see why ebay has a problem with it. What if a family member got sick, or something really important came up, like buying a house! And as long as the seller agrees there shouldn't be a problem, but after all the damn cash I gave to ebay, they want to kick me off for something I had permission to do. I'm begging to hate ebay more and more, why I continue to use it is beyond me...I'm probably gonna put my USS Flagg up soon just because my work schedule is going to change and I won't have the time to put into it like I hoped I would and its just going to sit there and rot away otherwise......but I may end up regretting it. I've cancelled 1 other bid about 3 months ago, also with permission from the seller because the item wasn't what I thought it was, I wander if this is why? Still, ya know? |

If it's with permission then I would contact Ebay.
On the other hand. If you never pay for them, then, I consider that person an A$$. (No offense) I would just make sure you are FOR SURE when you buy. My friend has an Ebay store (J1TOY) and I feel his pain when people do "Shady" things like that. Again, No offense, but I can see where you are going with this.

I think its just to protect the bidding price of the item, if a bid was up there for a long time before being retracted it might have turned other potential buyers away, and in essence throw off what the bidding could have been. Though this wouldnt be an issue with cheaper items but expensive items it could very well be. Although I agree that it shouldnt matter if the seller agrees, allowing this to happen often might open up unforseen scamming and grey areas thats just not worth looking into on ebays part so from that stand point I can understand and its justified, it sucks because both the seller and buyer are cool about the retraction. But as Johnny said, you have to be sure when you bid on something, when you click bid, its like a contract, and ebay might frown when you break it because somehting else might be going on that they are not aware of such as under the table buying. Your family member and morgage analogy is interesting, but only in that if it were me I wouldnt care if ebay sent me a suspension or even getting neg feedback because those things are way more important then ebay and I would gladly take those consequences against those larger issues (Im not saying you wouldnt either its just an interesting situation to ponder about how people would handle it). Good luck though, I hope you can get it straightened out or at least get an explaination from them.

All 14 items I'm bidding on were 99 cents each, I highly doubt I'm trying to scam someone I just think ebay needs to lighten up on certain things, especially with the whole suspension thing. They want to suspend you for retracting a bid but not for ripping people off over and over.

i dont see a huge issue with it if you pull the bid early. but personally id rather cancel a bidders bid if contacted they dont want it then deal with a NPB
