I was robbed the other day. someone broke in my place and stole my beloved Nintedo Wii and a Camcorder and a portable DVD player I had. it really sucks bad.. I bought stuff to secure all my windows and bought a new lock. do you think the police will actually do something about this or not. I remember back in 2003 I got my wallet stolen and I reported it and the cops didnt do shit about it. I got all my money back. but it I lost some irreplacable pics I had in my wallet of my family. It really sucks. I feel in the dumps now. I had a hard time sleeping last night.

I've had things stolen from me and damaged before. Twice my car has been broken into for stereo equipment and once my storage shed for all of my camping gear. I've had my car nearly totaled while it was parked on the side of the road (it was a drunk who somehow managed to drive away). It really does make you feel miserable. All I ever received from the police was something like a post card telling me they did everything they could but could not recover the items nor find who committed the crime. To be honest, although the little cards kind of sucked, there's probably very little the police can do about minor theft. It would simply take too many resources.

damn, i can only imagine man, sorry to hear. i would be in a daze and probably depressed. that's why i don't keep all my stuff in one place, just for that reason.
if someone robbed my stuff...i'll be going to jail, but someone will die, and that's no tough guy talk either. |

My house was robbed once when I was a kid, my mom lost her wedding ring and my room was turned upside down. The cops were actually able to track down the burglars, but oddly not the things they stole, which I don't really understand.
But after we've moved to a better neighborhood (We live next to a senior center and the entire street is occupied by friendly old people) it's been fairly quiet. But like Outback said if anybody ever robbed my house there would be wrathbringing.

Years ago, when I was a manager for a local video store we were held up at gun point.

I was nearly held up at gun point. When I used to work at a dollar store (I know, big haul) I went on break and, while I was gone, a gunman came in and emptied the register I had been running.
I was quite surprised when I came back, esp. since I had been gone only fifteen minutes.

I had my house robbed back in '99, and I can sympathize. Chances are the police can't do much to recover what you've lost - if you have serial numbers and filed a report it is about all you can do. The worst part is not losing what was taken, but the feeling of being violated. All you can do is what it sounds like you have done - beef up security. As long as you have noticably improved the lock up, chances are you won't be bothered again... especially if, unfortunately, they got the good stuff in the first shot.

I had a car broke in to and they stole a few burned cds. Its funny becase they were all punk, oi, and old school ska. But I would feel bad for anyone who broke in to my house. I have a big ass dog and a shotgun. Bring it!!!!!

Had my car broken into. The guy first tried to steal the car, but guess he didn't know what he was doing, because the ignition was all jacked up. So, he was taking stuff out the car(stereo, speaker box, amp) and sitting it to the side. Luckily some neighbors saw the guy and called the Cops. The Cops snuck up on him and had a foot chase and he got away. Couple weeks later they guy was caught as I had a gun he stole and he pulled it on some Cops and they shot him, but he did survive. So, I got some stuff back and replaced by my insurance company, but money and jewelry was never recovered.
