i live in douglas county georgia. me and my family had no real affect besides 2 hour drives to work when it usually takes 10 min. but there are a lot of people in my county that have been flooded out of thier homes and 4 have lost lives just in my county. I-20 is shut down and most of the bridges along sweetwater creek and the dog river have been washed away. Please keep Douglas county in your thoughts. I was in town (douglasville) on my way home and it was like a ghost town compared to what it is usually like. My work is one of the few to have water. i spent my day flushing all the water lines, the fountain drink lines and cleaning out the ice machine. But believe me im not complaining.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I run a property management office that manages about 1300 homes in Metro Atlanta. My team has been working around the clock since Saturday making sure our tenants are taken care of. We have properties in Douglas county that were 3 and 4 feet under water. Luckily no lives lost but the property damage keeps mounting...and the problems keep coming in.

Update: Nope, still couldn't get to work. Powder Springs & Lithia Springs seem to have become completely cut-off from each other. I tried about 6 different routes.

The Red Cross will always take monetary and supply donations. Also, though it may seem strangely displaced with the situation, any natural disaster like this is a great time to donate blood or blood products if your are willing and able. If you want to give, I encourage you to contact your local Red Cross. I am due to give blood tomorrow (you can give whole blood every 56 days) and I encourage everyone else that would to go out and give a pint.

Well!! Now im really PISSED!!!! I just got off the phone with my local Red Cross!! 1-800-435-7669 and 812-232-3393.Well it seems that they dont want any donations unless it is MONEY! WTF is that? Ive already managed to gather lots of nice clothes for all ages,75 cases of bottled water and some money. They dont want anything but the $. They said at this time there is nothing in the works for taking donations for those flood victims. That is TOTAL BS!!! So if anyone has any info one where this stuff can be taken to please LMK.So people that need this stuff can get it.
