Exactly, although from my own personal experience, most women wished I'd just go away.

I get what you are saying though...... since he was so vague on everything its a hard call.........I asked out my Fiance with a note but it was more of a joking-playful way. Her and I had a thing, a way we communicated as friends so it when the time came for me to man up and ask her I went a way she would never have expected and it worked. It was not done in a serious tone at all...... if it was it would have been an Epic Fail on my part. Hopefully he knows her very well so he does not look bad in her eyes.

my wife likes a sappy card and flowers too, but that's because I've told her face to face what she means to me. the other option is if she has the letter tell her not to read it and just blurt it out like a raving maniac. Last edited by gunslingercbr; 08-24-2009 at 02:25 PM.. |

A note or letter is a nice touch but you have to know the person. Do not get me wrong letting your feelings known is always the right thing in a letter or face to face - but in a letter, if you do not know the person well you'll miss things like sarcasm...and that could be bad. AND never, ever spell out your whole life story, trust me, I learned the hard way - Sorry girl in New York I hardly knew, didn't mean to scare you! LOL

Did Lt.Falcon ever back down from bringing a female on base? No!
Did Bazooka ever stop to ask if that brownie contained trans fat? No! Did BBQ ever stop to ask if his costume was flame retardant? No! So don't ever hold back, go for it! And if she shoots you down, than, well, knowing's half the battle? The other half is 25% blue lasers, 25% red lasers.

I think a letter is nice if it compliments your ability to express your feelings, not as the crutch you hide behind to avoid having to say it face to face.

I think it was a good move. He can always follow up with a face to face next. I'm sure she will at least want to talk to him one way or the other after reading the letter. |

Best of luck, man. Remember that, no matter what the miserable say, it is better to love and lose than to never love at all. Better still to let love loose than to sit on it like some cherished secret. If there's one thing worse than getting shot down, it's remorse over never taking a chance. Rejection is a short-term sting, but regret's a heavy bitch, and it only gets heavier as time passes.
