Smoke had the race won, but ran out of gas. *sigh* And it is only the first race and the 24 is already 75 points back. *big sigh* Dover will probably shake things up even more I bet.

I dont watch much NASCAR from here on out. Football, pre-season hockey, the end of fishing season and the beginning of hunting season get in the way. The CHASE is also a big reason: I hate that they drive all year only to be RE-ORDERED in the chase. What other sport does that? NONE! NASCAR has no clue, they really dont. Theyre getting to be like hockey, with someone so stupid running the show that they are trying "gimmicks" to get casual fans to watch, but at the same time losing serious fans. Keep changing the rules & format, keep losing fans and keep wondering why.

WOW. Clint Bowyer's winning car from New Hampshire failed post-race inspection and he was just fined 150 driver points! He's in last place now!

Whoa!!!... Just read this, too. Sucks for Bowyer. I like him, too. Always such a laid back dude.
Again, my gripe of the week is that ABC feels that infomercials are way more important that the Chase.

Yah, that is so weird... I think this week was the first time ABC didn't carry a chase race.

Dover is going to be on ESPN again... I wonder what happened to the ABC coverage all of a sudden; it makes no sense IMO. Having The Chase races on cable only will not help the already sagging ratings.

Hardcore race fans wont notice it, and NASCAR CERTAINLY wont tell you, because they dont want you to know, but NASCAR is in a serious decline. Putting an infomercial on probably makes ABC more money honestly.
Ive been involved in racing all my life. I grew up in a family of short track drivers in New England. My grandfather (who I lived with until I was 18) raced for like 17 years through the 60's and 70's on Maine short tracks, and I had numerous other uncles and cousins who raced in one form or another (short track, motorcycle, drag). Nobody has raced in my family for a good 10 years. The weekend was always a time when we went to a Saturday night local race, then all got together at one-anothers house Sunday for NASCAR. Im talking 50+ people mind you, not 5. Generations of racers. Nobody goes to the races anymore, and only myself and my grandfather still keep up with NASCAR. I usually watch all the "regular season" races, but this time of year I give up on it. I dont go out of my way to watch it. My gramp couldnt care less and none of my cousins and other uncles who were as heavy into it follow it at all. Some probably dont even know Earnhardt got killed, thats how little they follow it now. NASCAR has been on a slow, steady decline for quite a while. Sure, theyve had spikes of viewers, but Im telling you, NASCAR is nowhere near as popular as it once was. The "Chase" format and new cars have definitely driven away viewers. Couple that with NFL starting during their "playoff" period, and NASCAR crashes this time of year. The season is too long in general, then it runs into football and hunting seasons (there are a lot of hunters in the US) and is so anti-climactic that people just get sick of following it this time of year and move on to other things. |

Yeah JJ won the race today. Increased his position in the standings and most of all, kept Kyle and Denny out of the winners circle...Bring on Kansas!
