We just moved to a new house and have a flea problemb. Our next door neighbor has several dogs in her yard(which she dosent take good care of) and they all have fleas and ticks. Now our yard, dog, and house are infested. It is awful! We called Orkin to come out....which they did.....but it seems like ever since they came....its been worse!
Can this ever be completely controlled? Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated! NSP |

Well, there are many products out there to help with the house, but I would guess that your pooch is just helping re-infest the place. I would call the orkinator again, and then at the same time maybe get your dog some preventitives as well to keep them from coming back. Finally, go kick the neighbors ass too so they will do their part in keeping the pestilence at bay.

Im mainly concerned about the house being infested. Can this problemb ever be completely solved? With our dog being in one room of the house.....and the neighbors mutts having fleas and ticks......I dont see how it will ever go completely away!

My wife and i received a cat a year or two agao that had fleas really bad. We were not very pleased to say the least. We tried many things but we found a couple things that worked really well for us. First we placed a bowl of water with dishsoap in it on the floor. We positioned a lamp directly over the bowl to draw the fleas into it. Secondly, we got some sort of powder that you sprinkle on your floor and furniture and it kills them. Then you just vaccum them up. Repeat as many times as needed, but both of those did the trick for us. Oh and we got rid of the cat...

The Advantage/frontline is great for killing them and keeping them from getting back in. For the House I recommend Rx For Fleas Plus (Fleabusters) It's a powder we got from our vet one summer that was particularly brutal with fleas. Sprinkle it around the home and then sweep/brush into the carpet etc. I haven't seen a flea in 2 summers now. It wasn't real cheap, but it's worth it.
