Oh it is a genuine conspiracy. The UK is about 9,000 square kilometers smaller than Michigan. Very small in the grand scheme of things. The Earth is a sphere (or at least sphereoid in shape) therefore the centre of the map could be just about anywhere. Great Britain is usually placed on the central line of declination taken from the equator. British blokes that printed the first maps put Britain central because that's where they were from. This became the norm. To prevent tiny little England from being invaded (due to it's incredible wealth to landmass ratio), it was made to look mush bigger than it actually was... at least as large as France... out of principle.
One of those meaningless facts I suppose... Edit: Plus, what makes the north pole the top? Why can't the south pole be the top of the world as we view it? Because places in the southern hemisphere were seen as less important by the more powerful ones in the north. But I would think that most people understand this. Just so everyone is clear on this, I'll say it with the internet cruise control on.
YOU CAN'T FAKE A MOON LANDING USING 1960'S TECHNOLOGY, OR EVEN OURS WITHOUT USING HEAVY CGI!!! In the footage of the landing you can see the way the rover kicks up dust. Rather than billowing up into the air like you'd get here, it travels in a perfect parabollic arc before settling down again. You know why it does that? 'Cause there's no air for it to billow up in! Let's stop and think about what would be required for this effect. You'd have to decompress the entire studio to near 0 atmosphere. A structure capable of doing that, and big enough to shoot a movie in, would have been almost as big an engineering feat as the building the moon rocket itself, and everyone, including the crew, would need their own spacesuits. Arguing that it's cheaper, or even possible, relies on ignoring the very laws of physics! Not enough? The moondust they brought back can't exist on Earth. It bares no signs of the erosion that any sand, dust, or dirt on Earth has because of the lack of gravity or atmosphere or geo/weather patters. There's no way the moondust Nasa has could have come from anywhere other than the moon, unless you believe pixies brought it (and I definatelyt don't want to see what happens to the guy who calls Buzz and Neil that!). Take that conspiracy nuts! I'm not just the funny pic guy! :P |

I see what you're saying but all empires and early cartographers put their home at the center of a map. Look at the Middle East. Is the Fertile Crescent really the center of the world? Is Japan really east of the US? Not if you spin the globe around and look at it another way. People often forget too that during our winter it's actually summer in the southern hemisphere. And people thought and apparently still think the Earth is the center of the universe. It's a natural phenomenon of human perception.
There's a conspiracy of stellar cartographers as well... giving 12 months in the year instead of 13... but I digress...

The Moondust... yeah, NASA brings back "moondust" and then we trust NASA to give the results of their scientific findings. That' not really the best proof - It would be like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Look, I'm not saying they faked the moon landing. But faking the moon landing does not prove the earth is flat. The earth can be round, and the moon landing could be faked - those two theories are not intrinsically linked or dependent on one another.

I hear if you Flush your toilet in the northern hemisphere, it swirls in a clockwise vortex, flush in the southern hemisphere & it makes a counter clockwise vortex.
can Anyone in the southern hemisphere back me up? |

All I know is, if I had been the guy at NASA in charge of faking the moon landing, as soon as Neil Armstrong set foot on the "moon," a giant, green moon monster would have attacked him. I mean, why not go all out?
