know exactly what you mean as I've been following wrestling for 15 years and have also gone back and studied prior eras and have gone out of my way to read as many wrestlers autobiographies as possible, I am the definition of smart mark

lets see, gang of guys from another federation/territory who invade another one turning it on it's heels and beating up everybody involved? I saw that crap back in the USWA/WCCW days. There were only two things original about the NWO.
1) the name 2) the level |

It's probably my fault as I tend to think something and type it with the tone that I am saying it in my head with but forget it is just text on a screen, lol.
Also, before anyone goes into a tizzy over my last comment (as someone did before)...I don't think I am a wrestling know it all but I have dedicated 25 years of my life to following it so, yeah, I wont be afraid to say that I know a lot about it, not to be cocky. Anyhow my point is the NWO wasn't original, it was just another faction. They took things that other people had used for years and put them all together. The problem with the NWO started was when they ran out of ideas and had to start coming up with their own. |

Uhhhh....yeah, I already know that, it had nothing to do with what I said, really....I was wondering what he was referring to as to what group was like nWo before nWo came along because my brain is not thinking of another group that was similar in WWF/WWE or WCW.
I've probably been watching wrestling longer than you've been alive, lol. Eric Bischoff originally took the NWO invasion concept from New Japan Pro Wrestling, who constantly did hostile invasions from outside groups, or even outside companies (such as All Japan). Bischoff talks about taking the concept from Japan in his book "Controversy Creates Cash". He doesn't take credit for creating it, only for bringing the storyline to the continental US, where it had not been seen before. So yes, the NWO invasion angle had been run before. Even stateside, you used to have rival territories "invading" other territories, such as NWA invading WCCW, and vice-versa, which lead into many of the classic Von Erich, Hernandez, Freebird feuds with Flair, Rhodes, etc... So none of it is anything new really, just new spins on old stories. I started watching wrestling in 1978, at 5 years old. Amazing that I have stuck with it this long! How long have you guys been watching? |

Those matches alone give it a lot of promise/potential. The only thing is though, is that RVD has a tendency to "phone it in" a lot in his matches now that he's not the main attraction. I kinda wonder what kind of mess the sting/hogan match will be.

lol, yeah I agree, but I don't think it will be anywhere near as bad as the Sting/Flair match from Impact a few weeks ago, really hoping they finally give the KO Title to Velvet, and hope Ink Inc. gets the tag titles
