No shit? Is this the first time they've actually done that? I've seen it "almost" happen a bunch of times.
I used to hate him, thought he was an over-hyped jobber, but ehhh, I'm warming up to him a little... |

Hell, Vince McMahon won the RR before too ;)
Del Rio is not anywhere near the main event status yet. I am not even sure guys like Cena, Orton and Punk can elevate him into a good enough match to keep people interested. How many Royal Rumble winners also won at WM, Del Rio didn't. Del Rio might be the first one to cash in the MITB and not win the title. Or Del Rio will cash it in and be the shortest lived champion in history .... such as winning it on a PPV then losing it on Raw the next night.

Eddie was entertaining and a great hand in the ring. JBL was neither for most of his career. ADR is good in the ring, top 1/3 of the Raw roster, but his mic work leaves much to be desired. I don't know if its him or creative. I tend to think it's the creative staff.

see I kinda see Del Rio joining in on this conspiracy theory that Truth is on. He won the Rumble ( I was there,..hehe) but lost at Mania, one the number one contenders match for the title match tonight, but got booted out of it by Mr McMahon, and now he won the MITB. I don't see him winning. In my eyes it makes for a great storyline....
its his destiny,...to lose?

I don't know, I have to disagree with anyone who thinks Del Rio can't handle being a main eventer/champ. I think he has what it takes to be a champ.
I didn't like him when he was doing those lame promos and I didn't like that he won RR (pfft, Punk lasted so long, I had my hopes up) but I think Del Rio is a great heel. He is a fresh face (compared to the usual champs).

its his destiny,...to lose? DiBiase became a great heel without ever having the title and the fans enjoyed him falling short of his goal every time. I can see McMahon and the WWE going this route with Del Rio. I agree he can be a good heel and participate in the main events but I don't think he's good enough to be the top bad guy in a championship feud as the champion. He's the modern-day DiBiase.

THAT I can agree with. They need new stars/faces badly, IMO, and different champions - ANYONE other than Cena. People like Punk (yes, I know he was champion once) and R. Truth.
I really want to see The MIZ as champion again! Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 07-17-2011 at 09:49 PM.. |
