I went straight from playing with Joes directly into 80's Metal...it was a natural progression for me. I can remember circa 1983/84 playing with my Joes on the family room floor watching MTV 24/7. During this time Motley, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard were all new and upcoming bands. Little by little I started to pay more attention to the bands then the toys. The hair started to grow and after awhile having a Flint and Airtight seemed silly to me. I found myself buying WASP albums and Circus magazine rather then GI Joes. Still love the stuff (Joe included )...still have all my albums, still go to all the shows....and I'd still have the hair if I could

Not really "metal," but I always liked Europe. They kinda fizzled out.

Didn't Europe release a new album a bit ago? Thought I heard something about that.
My friend used to have a cat name Carrie, and man, did me mess with him about it!

I was a total metal head by the time I was in middle school (1987). For me though it was Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kiss(early stuff), Ozzy, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and the list goes on. I can remember all the hair bands being popular in high school in the early 90s. I never could get into any of them.

Off your list I went with Faster Pussycat (BulletBoys being a close second)....I was heavy into this scene back in the 80's. I had the long hair with the dyed patch in front (George Lynch)....some of my more "obscure" favorites include Lizzy Borden, Keel, Dirty Looks and Killer Dwarfs. Cool post and interesting to see how many Tankers will admit to being a 80's Headbanger.
Shame FasterPussycats album came out the same day as Appetite for Destruction or they may have been bigger.....LOVED Killer Dwarfs. Also Britiny Fox, Every Mothers Nightmare, there were so many...i miss those years..... Gotta love the HAIR NATION channel on satalite radio!!!

Gotta give you a high five for pulling "Nowhere To Run" out. The others were expected...but you dug real deep with something off KILLERS. Cool...Gene would be proud.

KISS is the reason I picked up my first guitar.
