YOU ARE ARGUING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
STOP BEING IMPULSIVE. those of you that liked ROC... are saying you had fun and it was action packed. okay. done. those of you that disliked ROC... are saying you wanted it to reflect GI JOE as you know it or remember it and that the film had some severe technical issues. you can't argue that point because... well... you can't. WHY? cuz there are films that have come before it with a smaller budget with far superior special effects and just like comparing anything else... a predecessor with ample stats sets the bar. okay done. but there is no room for arguing cuz YOU ARE ARGUING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. YES it was a bad film. but that doesn't make it a bad MOVIE. does that make sense? Yes the special effects were off... but YES it was action packed. Yes it wasn't ARAH... but YES it was GI JOE. SEEEEE..... TWO DIFFERENT ARGUMENTS. IF this had been an ARAH-scented film.... some of you would say ... they look silly in those costumes. some of you would say WOW I LOVED IT it looked just like the cartoon. the ONLY reason this would happen is because some of us went to see it for one reason and some of us went for another. some of us judged it as GI JOE. some of us just judged it as a film and/or movie. by that I mean when you talk 'film' it usually encompasses the art, technicality, the writing... etc.... Cannes Film Festival. Not the Cannes Movie Jubilee. The terms are obviously interchangeable but for the sake of separating the views on the film/movie... i think we can just clearly state that this was NOT a film. The script was (as documented) rushed due to the strike. plus itz a summer blockbuster... so there.... no need to argue about the script. if you thought the script was okay itz prolly cuz you're not A) a film student B) familiar with high end film C) don't really care about the writing just the story D) are young and in love. I dunno. I'm not saying it was poorly written as much as I'm saying it wasn't well written. which is fine. itz not out for an oscar. there done. no room to argue because there's nothing above you can deconstruct with A) anyone that knows about film writing and B) well, again if you think it was well written you also probably own Wild, Wild, West on DVD okay... next... it wasn't classic gi joe ... it barely resembled what some of us love about gi joe... but not all of us love the same things about gi joe. some of us love it all. some of you don't think this needed to be classic GI JOE because it was created to absorb a new fan base. it was out of our hands from the beginning in that respect. I didn't think the film was any less cheesy or easy than the cartoon. okay. done. Some of you don't want to admit you hated it after championing it... some of you don't want to admit you liked it after bashing it. some of you still can't imagine that your opinion might just be different (although just as stupid and/or brilliant) as the dude posting above or below you. now you know.

Dont just defend this film just because.
I try to use facts and specifics and I am writing a letter to hasbro to express this analysis. RoC could have been done far better that what it was. This film was slapped together and it shows. Hasbro, Inc 1027 Newport Ave Pawtucket, RI 02861 Look at any super hero/comic adapted movie out right now and I will show you a better film. Watchmen, Iron Man, Batman. They are all bang up kick ass. Transformers kicked ass. Why did they have to do such a shitty job on Joe? The answer is they have no excuse.

There seem to be quite a few people that disagree with that assessment. That in no way stops you from expressing your contrasting view or informing Hasbro and/or Paramount of your feelings, of course. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't exactly turn into a crushing letter-writing campaign. Besides, the movie might not get a sequel anyhow. |

Transformers kicked ass. Why did they have to do such a shitty job on Joe? The answer is they have no excuse. I concur. And hopefully it is clear I hated the film. I also hated Watchman and Iron Man. But I loved Dark Knight and the first Transformers. see... but we could argue all day on those because THEY had either a script or decent special effects. but the people who liked ROC aren't saying woww those special effects... they are saying wow that action or wow storm shadow on the big screen in some form. you don't have to share their enthusiasm (I don't)... but their enthusiasm and your disappointment... itz all originating from far different sources. I am NOT defending the film. I'm simply saying that the arguing is becoming unintelligible, unintelligent, and really ignorant from both sides.

Uhm...Paramount made this movie, not Hasbro (though Hasbro had some say). Might want to find their address, too.

I am a film student and I liked the movie. Maybe you could remove the stick from your anus. Also learn how to write in the process; it was difficult to understand what you were saying.

you think it was hard to follow what I wrote, yet I was a Poetry and Fiction major for five years. so like i said... means nothing. all it means is that you decided to be a film student. doesn't mean you've studied film. how do I have a stick up my ass because I'm trying to get people to stop fighting. MAYBE you had trouble understanding.... but then don't pretend like you understood.
