I thought Kovi openly said that he wanted to play in Russia next year so I don't know if they would spend the resources to just rent. |

That's not to say that the US didn't play well. You guys did, and you carried the day. You earned it, and congratulations. But I am absolutely shocked at how Canada threw away several quality chances for more goals. It could have ended with a much different outcome. I counted at least 8 times that the announcer refered to a Canadian shot on a more or less clear goal "off the side of the net" or something of the like. And there was one shot, either late in the second or early in the third (forget which) where your goalie is standing with a gaping five hole and his right leg pressed against the post, and Della Rovare (I believe) elects to attempt to fire it between the leg and post...WTH?!?! that was spectacularly poor play by our guys, and some of your guys best during the tournament. You deserved the win. |

That would be the Swedes beating the shit out of the Swiss 11-4 for the bronze.
I don't know, from what it sounded like from the homer announcers was Team Cananda was playing awesome and it was only a matter of time before they came back and won again. The only compliment I remember them giving the Americans was for shot blocking. Still these players are just kids with years to finely tune their game. Much like watching college hockey were any shot could be a goal and emotions run high and low. I'm very impressed how USA could keep playing in that environment especially after Canada tied it up. On the other hand I couldn't even tell USA won it at first because the crowd just went silent. Canada definitely has the best home field advantage for this tourny for all the tremendous support the country gives to the program. My best/worst take-a-way from the night was the "Learn the cheer" commercials that played every break. "Written by a Canadian, and voted on by you!" "Eh! O' Canada - Go!" (Reducing Canada to 2 syllables BTW) "Learn the cheer!" Its times like these I'm thankful to have a simple, classic, and awesome cheer like: U! S! A! |

I'm surprised the Russians lost their game too. Quote:
The shot blocks for both teams were quite good though. That battle (like most of them) was won by you guys, but both teams had a couple great ones. Quote:
