The way I look at it is this: There is 2 types of people. First type is the "bandwagon" fan. The fan who likes anything that involves there favorite brand whether it's GI JOE, X-MEN, HULK, TMNT, SUPERMAN etc. These are the people who will defend every piece of shit that is ever put out. These are the people who buy every toy line, buys every shitting movie based video game because it has Wolverine on the cover and these are the people who just settle for whatever they make because they feel it's better than nothing.
The 2nd type is a "hardcore" fan. These type of fans love the original work of there favorite brand. These are the people who would rather re-read 20 year old comics rather than read newer "more hip" and "more up to date material". These are the people who enjoy what first got them to love there brand. These people also accept updates and revisions of there brand when there brand has been treated with respect and remained loyal to the original material. These people tend to be more realistic in what is good and what isn't. A simplier way to classify it would be to use a sports analogy. You have your "hardcore" fans who will follow there team year in and year out. They don't care if there team is 4-12 and stink the place up. They will go down with the ship and still love and respect there team. They know that one day they will return to glory and it will be AWESOME! Then you have your "bandwagon" fans who just go from superbowl winning team to playoff contenders to just whatever is popular at the time. Unfortunally for me, there is way more "bandwagon" fans then "hardcore" fans. Everyone is about making money. They don't care if there following the canon that made the series great. They don't care if a black guy is playing a white guy. They don't care that CC and Baroness aren't suppose to be related. They don't care that SS is suppose to have integrity. They know that all they have to do is get a few things right in the movie, put the brand name on it and millions of idiots will flock to it and buy crappy video games, average toys, silly merchandise and settle for the age old comment of: "at least they made something with (insert brand) involved. It's better than nothing! |

Transformers failed? The new movie hit # 9 in the all time grossing numbers and is headed to make $400,000,0000. (Yes that is a real number).

Oh noes, people has opinion an' i don like red it!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Instantly label everything as bawwing, since everyone should just be quiet and take it up the rear and not have an opinion. I'm sorry, I thought this was a place that welcomed open end discussion, not ridiculed it with stupid pictures? Anyway, moving onto someone who had more then three words to say, Monkeywrech I feel put it best, which should've really put an end to any further debating. But you got the folks who had to take apart what he said, find fault in it and pick it apart bit by bit, dissecting it worse then that pig you had to mutilate in science class. Only to justify the fact that they somehow feel we should all be happy with whatever they give us...or at the very least not say anything at all or express any sort of opinion what so ever if we're dissatisfied. Hm, If only the tables could be turned, how would it be if some people who're such advocates for these atrocities against the 80's got something they didn't like...but at this point I feel like Hasbro could spit in a Transformers or G.I. Joe card bubble, or ANY of their current lines, sell that for $10.99 and they'd be happy with it. Or heck, Make a transformers 3 that had these robotic dogs that...OMG just humped for a consecutive 3 hours! I'd see that 4 times! Bleh...I don't even know anymore. Quote:
#9 qualifies as 'Box office hit' in this era? I did not know that. Last edited by Da Boz; 08-01-2009 at 10:26 AM.. |

Wow.
First of all, how can you guarantee that Hasbro would be making "billions" of dollars by selling the same type of Transformers figures nowadays that were around in the 80's? You can't. That is nothing but pure speculation on your part, plain and simple. You're guessing, not stating fact...you should point that out so you can be seen as legit. Also, what financial figures are you looking at to say this about Transformers 2, "I am sure it made lots of money it's opening week, the revenue dropped drastically because there was not enough repeat biz." The movie was the #1 film for two weeks and it is the highest grossing film of 2009 (and passed it's previous movie in money earned). Again, you just made an off the cuff remark with having done absolutely no research whatsoever. Stop using your opinions as "fact" and people will be more willing to take you seriously. I am legit, I am a person with an opinion. You cannot quash my right to free thought and speech. You are not the legit police and I was not aware that I had to come to this board or any board with credentials...it's an opinion....geez you should look up the definition of the word and ponder it a moment. Its an opinion. And you can bring facts to anyone and they will be in dispute, just because you did some vague 10 second research and one source tells you it was the highest grossing movie to date this year dont make that so. It's not a fact, it's speculation. Check many independent sources or more and see if they are all reporting the same identical thing. You're not offering anything to the discussion by nit picking my statement and offering no relevant comment to the discussion at hand. If you take a look at Dark Knight, you will see a movie of Epic proportions. Sure alot of people went to see TF2 and good for you all...but review after review and FACT after FACT says this movie sucked...and I can say with absolute certainty that the toy line is sucking too at least in my area, TF toys are virtually untouched, still packed to the end of the pegs day in day out...no one is buying and I frequent these places enough to see if even one figure sells. Sure they get looked at, but no collector, no parent, not even a kid is buying them. Bakugan now...that shit flys off the shelves. Enough FACT for you? TF2 was a horrible disjointed movie that was a disrespect to Transformers itself. Dogs humping, fem bots and transformers walking with canes...geezus what will they think of next??? Accelerator suits for Gi Joes? Why not call it GI Joe the Real American Super Hero! This is how you make money? This is how you alienate fans. Not all, maybe not many but some and quite possibly many. There are alot of fans out there that dont frequent this board and it would be ignorant for us to assume that what this board collectively thinks is even remotely a gauge for the world in general. Look at it from a Drug perspective, so you got crack and you sell crack...you want repeat customers and you want new customers...why would you dis your repeat customers that are loyal and keep your muny coming in? Then you go and spice up your crack and the loyal customers say yick, this shits bad, but the new customers are lapping it up. Now suppose that spice was something that made it 2 times as potent and kills your new customer on the first OD? Thats whats happening with these kids...DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK that kids will be hooked on TF2 or GI Joe next year? They'll move on...if you re-envision yet again you run the risk of no one catching on to the change and liking it. |

Here is my take I gotta say something
I am a BIG ARAH fan and collector as well for V. vs. V. , Spytroops , GI Joe vs. Cobra ,25th and ROC I will see the movie. And if the movie sucks or not is not the point It will not Damage the GI Joe line from the past the toys are selling well At least in my Area and me buying them I think GI Joe will continue to flourish for years to come no matter the outcome from ROC I agree with you that the product is certainly selling in our area and hope you got the chance to pick up some of the wave 3s in the area. And you're right it wont damage what we have had...and I do agree that GI Joe will stay strong wether or not they continue with the ROC line there will be something to keep us happy...Hasbro said so themselves! Crimson Strike plane at Greece TRU... |

You said that you never seen TF2 but yet you make comments about the movie...How do you know it sucked? I have to say that my son (who is 9) saw the first Transformers movie..AND LOVED IT!! He wants to see the 2nd Transformers movie and I WILL take him to see it. He has wanted the toys and got some. MY SON is the new generation of us 80's kids. You can't just keep saying that anything that is revisited or redone sucks. You have to make changes to movies, toys, ect. to stay current or you won't have any fans. I know MANY people that grew up with the Transformers and were not very pleased that it was redone the way it was, but they do admit that it was a VERY well made movie that caught the attention of the new generation. That is what will ultimately make the difference. When I was growing up my step-dad used to have us watch the Batman TV series. When Batman came out to the theater we went to see it, and my step-dad at first was upset because it didn't follow the exact line as the TV series. But guess what? Us kids LOVED IT and it is now one of my step-dad's favorite movies. Things change. Deal with it, and stop whining that it isn't exactly the way it was in the 80's. Our clothes have changed from the 80's. Our hairstyles have changed from the 80's. Our cars have changed from the 80's. HELL even the color of our appliances have changed from the 80's. DEAL with it and move on. Change happens. As long as the new generation loves it and wants the parents to buy it or buys it themselves with their birthday money or christmas money or money from their chores...then I say it is damn successful and let it go. |

sorry your mistaken. i dont care if you like ROC or not. man to each his own. my point was if joe got real bad i mean the worse of the worse ie speed racer move/ figs. or the S6 2.5 figs you would still support it.
thats not a attack my man. thats a question and observation. See? I don't buy everything with the name on, only what I like. I like ROC figures, a LOT, ergo I buy them. Life isn't complicated when it comes to GI JOE.

that right also allows you to say things that are factually incorrect, which you can defend by your right to say it is your opinion. the opinion of a purple grass has already been presented to show how your position is flawed, and yet you continue to defend it. doing so calls into legitimate question your reasoning and analytical abilities, and someone who is exhibiting neither just isn't going to be taken seriously. but, again, it is your right to present yourself any way you like. intelligent discussion does not revolve around baseless opinions that revel in not having facts to back them up. intelligence seeks facts to back up the opinion to lend credibility to it. you seem to want to celebrate your opinion not being credible. a films box office gross is a fact. it indisputable. I'm not sure how you can claim otherwise and still attempt to be taken seriously. what's next, water being made up of H2O is just speculation? what's next, the Lakers winning the championship is just speculation. |

GUNSLINGERCBR Lets talk about FACT.
Here is your new ROC review that you posted on the tank here: Review: GI Joe Here is your thread: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/genera...oc-review.html quote from the reviewer: "this is an entertaining popcorn flick that knows exactly how to shake things up. It’s almost a cross between TOP GUN, STARSHIP TROOPERS and MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE." MY OPINION: MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE??? Did this guy see this film? This film is in no way shape or form MOTU from the toy line or cartoon other than having a few characters with recognizable names. This was a turd film and he says ROC is analogous to this and it's a good movie? Oh boy, I am waiting for the SMURFS to come out on screen and breakout in song like the goblin with the synthesizer. These reviews keep sounding like a bad record that skips a beat. Here is the FACT: this was the U.S. Box Office total $16,316,460 for MOTU. Masters of the Universe (1987) - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies Do you still stand behind your thread with this FACT? Here are some FACTS in ROC There are major differences between the original characters vs the ROC characters and are listed below. In the GI Joe team the same characters are Hawk, Duke, and Snake Eyes. FACT: ROC Breaker is not the same character as the original 1982 Breaker. There are TWO Breakers and they have different names, race, ethnic background, and birthplaces. ROC Breaker does not even have a beard; if he did they would say he looks like a terrorist. In the book (James, 35) it says ROC Breaker is “one of the thirteen original members of the GI Joe team”, clearly he is NOT. Breaker 1982 version File Name: Alvin R. Kibbey, Birthplace:Gatlinburg, Tennessee, US Breaker 2009 version File Name: Abel Shaz, Birthplace: Rabat, Morocco FACT: ROC Ripcord is not the same race as the original 1984 Ripcord. Ripcord File Name Wallace A. Weems, the same with the original. MY OPINION: I really think that when the writers were selecting characters for Wayans to play they made a mistake in research and in character writing. Duke’s character was introduce in 1984, so they most likely looked at the list of 1984 character and Ripcord name is alphabetically before Roadblock, who is African American and is portrayed as Dukes Friend in the comics and cartoon series. They got the characters mixed up. FACT: ROC Scarlett is not the same nationality as 1982 Scarlett. Scarlett 1982 version File Name:Shana M. O’Hara, Birthplace: Atlanta, Georgia Scarlett 2009 version File Name:Shana M. O’Hara, Birthplace: Alberta, Canada FACT: ROC Cover Girl has different hair color (blonde) then the original 1983 Cover Girl (Red). Other than that the character is the same. FACT: ROC Heavy Duty is not the character as the 1991 Heavy Duty. There are TWO Heavy Duty and they have different names and nationally Heavy Duty 1991 version File Name: Lamont A. Morris, Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois Heavy Duty 2009 version File Name: Herschel Dalton, Birthplace: London, England In Cobra the same characters are Destro and Baroness (here alias and her File Name are intertwined in ROC Ana Lewis maries Baron Decobray = Anastasia Decobray). FACT: ROC Storm Shadow Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan; (Birthplace St Louis, Missouri 1992-1997 versions, San Francisco, California 2005 unmasked mail-away version 2009 version 30, Fresno, California 2006 Tommy M. Arashikage version). Lets skip the fact CC is NOT in anyway the original CC that’s to long winded for this thread, since my last thread had half the page on this. REFERENCE: James, B., (2009). “G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra: The Confidential G.I. Joe Files.” Simon Spotlight, Simon & Schuster, New York, ISBN: 978-1-4169-8342-2. Are you going to dispute the FACTS from an ROC BOOK?
