I've been goddam lucky with my employer, By all rights I should be unemployed, but he's determined to stay afloat and keep us working, at least for now. You know what he said the other day? "You don't need to make it look like you're working if you don't want. We've been playing liar's dice all day, and these other guys have been on their phones." I never thought I'd have the boss tell me to take a load off and collect a check.

For my fellow Joe Bros needing a little distraction, here is one of my favorite comedians.
Cheers and enjoy.

Fuck, that's horrible. This might be the California in me talking, but that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Condolences on your loss, Hebime. I feel at least some of your pain, as my grandmother became an official COVID-19 fatality last week.
I was already sensitive about folks handwaving it all away with "But only old and sick people die from it so it's really no different from the flu." Now I border on raging out when I hear it. Yeah. Old and sick people die from it. I have a good number of older and "pre-existing condition" people that I'm related to and/or care about. And every time someone brings that up it sounds like them saying their lives don't matter as long as someone else doesn't get inconvenienced. And we're not even to the worst of it yet. |

Whenever I would see the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, I would immediately think of the American International Toy Fair every year, because I became so accustomed to following the annual event there online.
The convention center has been turned into an alternate care facility for New York City, and my wife is one of the many employees working there for the past week now. She’s a twelve year U.S. Army veteran, and only last year changed her MOS to 68V (Respiratory Specialist) after becoming bored working the same medical tasks for the past decade. Now she’s one of a few soldiers in her unit (the 586th Field Hospital out of Fort Campbell) trained to use ventilators to keep New Yorkers breathing. I doubt that she’ll be allowed to come home any time soon, because the plan is to move her field hospital from one pandemic hot spot to the next, for as long as FEMA says that it’s necessary. My concerns seem very small when compared to all of the people infected with COVID-19 or facing quarantine, and the people at higher risk of developing the disease. My mental fatigue is nothing compared to that of medical professionals, caregivers, and researchers responsible for fighting the new coronavirus, or of the leaders responsible for making decisions about this. Our family is just one of many adjusting to a new way of life, and we don’t know the financial stress that business owners and other families are facing. It won’t be easy, but we’ll get through this. |

Such sad and scary news, my deepest condolences to all who have lost friends and loved ones from this. Please stay safe guys.
On a side note be careful if buying masks and filters. I have been finding a lot of crazy prices. This is just the one example of the filters that I use, the worst thing is they are all expired product by one to two years. I'm not sure how much that affects the product but at that price is it really worth taking the chance? I'm just thankful I always keep some stock on hand. Again, stay safe tankers.
