When I was a kid, just a few days after Christmas I made the mistake of racing my brand new, and too big 10 speed in the rain. The breaks didn't work and I literally hit a brick wall. I just remember a bright light, and then slowly getting off the ground and spitting out a lot of blood. A spot of blood hit the girl down the street and she promptly hit me in the back of the head. I realized that my front tooth was missing and I made everyone search everywhere because I was sure I'd get in trouble without it. It was then that one of my friends realized that my arm looked funny (it was broken in two places). They then ran off to get my dad.
By the time we got to the hospital I was in a lot of pain. In the end, I had not one, but two broken arms, a torn lower lip where my bottom teeth ripped through, and my front tooth wasn't missing, it was jammed up into my mouth. The only good to come of this was that my dad (who hated toys) brought me my best present from Christmas, the WHALE to play with while I was in the hospital. One of the few good memories I have of him mixed with the worst pain I can remember. |

While this isn't the worst pain I've been in but the other day I was working out for the first time in months (I've been lazy this summer) and while I was lifting the the barbell over my head,(about 140lbs so not too heavy) my right shoulder just gives out and I drop the barbell on my foot. Luckely I was wearing heavy boots so my foot is only bruised and not broken but my shoulder was killing me all day yestersay. Not as bad today though.

cluster headaches (aka suicide headaches).. Get them every couple of years for a month or so spat, then I'm pain free during remission. During that time (when they hit) I'm lucky I haven't killed myself. Considered one of the highest pain levels in medical science. I've lost jobs, relationships, and friends because of it. Treatments include massive amounts of pain meds, oxygen tanks, and ER visits. Also magic mushrooms (yeah they do help).
Cluster headache - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Dr. Peter Goadsby, Professor of Clinical Neurology at University College London, a leading researcher on the condition has commented, “Cluster headache is probably the worst pain that humans experience. I know that’s quite a strong remark to make, but if you ask a cluster headache patient if they’ve had a worse experience, they’ll universally say they haven’t. Women with cluster headache will tell you that an attack is worse than giving birth. So you can imagine that these people give birth without anesthetic once or twice a day, for six, eight or ten weeks at a time, and then have a break. It’s just awful.” Last edited by squidboy; 08-01-2009 at 01:30 PM.. |
