I did a number on my right leg many years ago... It was summertime just before 7th grade for me and my Dad got me to sign up for this thing called "Trailblazers". Basically it was a program that paid teens (between ages 13-17 I think) money to go around in groups and clean up the parks in the area. It was one of the easiest things ever as you spent more time playing with the other teens then really doing work and stuff.
Anyway, we were playing catch with a ball on a baseball field one day and I turned to try and chase it. My body went in the direction of the ball, but my leg from the kneecap down did not. My leg basically collapsed on itself, or twisted like a Twizzler candy... And down onto the hard baseball field rocks I went. My leg got cut up all over the kneecap area and was pretty bloody, but the painful feeling around the kneecap area didn't exactly help either. One of the adult supervisors helped try and wash off the blood and dirt, figuring I just cut myself up really bad, which was why I was hurting. But my kneecap area got bigger and started turning purple color over the remaining time of the day while being there. Of course, it really didn't kick in...the pain...until I rode home from the place we had the meetings before going out to parks for on my bike. Yep... Pain in the kneecap area plus trying to ride home on a bike pedaling with it. My Dad saw my leg when I got home, which by then was HUGELY purple, and was all... "We're going to the doctor's NOW." Not only had a torn up my leg muscles around the kneecap area, it popped the sucker right out. The kneecap was rattling around inside the leg area where it's supposed to be connected. They didn't do surgey surprsingly to fix the injury, just had my leg for most of summer in a full brace so I couldn't bend it, then later on one used to allow movement better. To this day though, I still have issues with the knee. Both knees actually. They 'pop' like cracking knuckles if you squat up and down on them. Also, I've had a few close calls of re-injury in the same way as the first time. A year ago, while I was talking to a guy I knew whom worked at GameStop, it went out on me again, but it wasn't as bad as the last time since I didn't fall on a baseball field or bike home on it, but it still put me out of work for a month. They even did an MRI on the sucker. The cause is still attributed from what I recall to my having flat feet. So I wear inserts in my shoes, or get add-in inserts that mold to your feet on some shoes. I can honestly say that is one of the worst painful experiences of my life, but there a few others... Slicing a chunk of my ear on a fence...wisdom teeth pulls... Jamming my fingers with a basketball in gym class and the teacher thought I gave him the finger... ^_^;; |

I had surgery a few years ago. They had trouble bringing me out of anesthesia so they woke me without any pain killers for the six inch incision, or the tow half inch tubes stuck into me. That hurt like hell. I told the nurse to get me some pain killers before I got up and got them myself.

It hit me like a freight train one night just after dinner. The pain was so intense, I puked up dinner, then had my wife drive me to the ER. |

I have a compressed nerve in my back and had a microdiscectomy on my L3 & L4 Vertebrae in July of 08. The ride to the hospital on the back board was the most painful thing i have ever felt. I was finally pain free by March of 09, when I stood up wrong and re injured it. The pain was so bad I could not stand or sit much less walk. I literally had to drag myself along the floor to the bathroom to use it. I was bedridden for days and was suffering so bad I contemplated killing myself. No amount of medicine helped. My doctor prescribed all kinds of muscle relaxants which would help me sleep, but I would be so stiff and sore by morning I could hardly move and when I could I would walk like Frankenstein. After a few weeks of physical therapy my range of motion improved, but the pain didn't. I began walking with my wife everyday about a month ago. Now even though there is still some pain, mostly in the mornings, I am off pain medication and getting healthier.
