I did this on a Wednesday. It pretty much went numb the moment I did it. in fact, I kept working until I noticed the drops of blood on the floor and pooling in my kevlar glove:
I spent the next hour watching a nurse pull glove threads and metal dust from that fleshy pink stuff deep under the skin. Flushing it with some sterilizer the whole time. Then a doctor came in, drove an inch long needle in to keep it numb while he did the stitches, he apologized the whole time he slowly pushed the needle in. Course, the thumb was still numb, so I didn't care. But later that morning after I woke up to the throbbing burn of all those nerves in there realizing what had happened. I don't know that it's the worst pain I've been through, but nothing else has ever woke me up before. Course, by that Friday I couldn't even tell I'd cut it. Yeah it still looked terrible, but it felt fine save for some itching as things healed. Man that itching was the worst part, so deep under the skin. Worse that a cast. |

Regarding the kidney stone stories and such, my best advice..drink plenty of water every freakin' day. After going through that hell I drink only water and nothing else.

Going to the dentist who didn't use enough novicane while drilling my tooth. The only reason I didn't say anything cause I was 16 at the time and the assistant was really hot and I didn't want to look like a wuss in front of her. Unfortunantly my pride caused my left cheek to swell up like a chipmunks for 2 days and I couldn't chew food on the left side of my mouth for a week without writhing in agony.

Necrotised ulcers along the left side of my scrotum.
I picked up a throat infection, and then a fever and slept for a few days. When I woke up I found I had chaffed the inside of my thighs whilst I was asleep (fever = sweats + masssive gonads = worn skin...). Somehow the germs from my throat infection got into the worn skin (lesson lads - don't scratch your nuts if you don't feel well!) making me feel even worse. Slept for about a week, woke up to nip to the toilet to find the left side of my nut-sack had 3 inch wide ulcers, each one oozing a black goo. Got myself to casualty, where I was prodded, probed and stared at in horror by a gaggle of young nurses, before I was diagnosed with Necrosis of the Scrotum (luckily just the skin - my love-spuds had narrowly avoided being infected!) and after a swab was taken, an iodine bath was administered. An Iodine bath on ulcereted necrotised skin looks (and feels) like someone is applying BBQ sauce to open wounds. That hurt a fair bit. After several bouts of passing out and vomiting I went home, and (as I'm glad you'll be happy to hear!) my scrotum healed nicely (although I did have to wear a 'nut-sling' for a while).

The worst pain for me was an abscessed tooth I had a couple years ago. Serious agony.
Couldn't sleep at all and no pain killers worked whatsoever. Not a fun couple of days until the antibiotic finally kicked in. |

Worst is the Migraines I have had since I was 4. It now takes horse tranquilizers just to touch the pain since I built up an imunity.
Close second is due to being a free bleeder. My joints wear down extremely fast. To keep them from freezing I had to keep moving until the nerves were wore down. Now I have no feeling in my knees and arthritis in the shoulder. Whenever a joint bleeds it looks like hicky marks and when I still had good nerves it burnt like hell. Last is the 3 blown discs in my lower back. Mostly the pain is due to pinched nerves and pain meds dont help with nerve pain. Doc said he didnt see how I still walk without the surgery that I have seen some of you have went through but I do. |

Is it wrong to be laughing so much at this thread?
I'm at work and I literally have to stop reading this for now. My coworkers are starting to wonder what I keep snickering about. |

I had cancer when I was 5 years old. Between the actual symptoms of the cancer (abdominal tumor that felt like a chestburster trying to eat its' way out), and the agony of bone marrow tests while undergoing chemo (the needle doesn't hurt, but the actual extraction will curl your toes), I'd say that was probably the worst pain of my life.
