My brother, nephew and I are heading up to Chicago this weekend for GW Games Day. I was wondering if there was anything geeky in Chicago, the surronding area, or even on the way from Kansas City that we should hit? Comic stores, toy stores, or whatever. We use to go up to that area to visit relatives so we got to see a lot of the typical tourist things like museums and the aquarium, but that was years ago. Any advice or suggestions would be great, thanks.

As far as comic stores go, check out Graham Crackers Comics, there's an awesome location downtown, that I've been going to for about 10 years now. (GRAHAM CRACKERS COMICS Illinois' #1 comic book store)
Another cool thing for the younger crowd I'd say is the lego store. (LEGO.com Stores : Chicago - Landing Page) And though it is a tourist attraction, as a Chicago resident, I still enjoy Navy Pier. (http://www.navypier.com/) These are just the initial ones that come to mind, if I think of something else, I'll post it.

Try a Google search for Quake Collectibles. That guy has a lot of cool toys and collectibles. If you're in Wrigleyville try eating at Lucky's for excellent sandwiches. Chicago is so large there's really something for everyone and you're bound to find something fun to do. Have a great trip!

Quake collectibles is cool even though they bought my $30,000 stolen star wars collection from my coke-head friend for like pennies.
there's also Galactic Force Toys (TF, GI joe, etc) on Clark next to Chicago Comics.

Thanks for the tips, I'm sure we're gonna have plenty to do.
I got outta 40K years ago, but my brother is still into it with my nephew. They've got entries, I'm just going because we always dreamed of going when we were younger, but never got around to it. Thanks again for the info, everything looks awesome. |

There is that Harry Potter exhibit going on at the Museum of Science and Industry. Of course, if that's not your thing, there's a lot of other good exhibits, like a naval submarine.
