I think you have to wait until four days have passed. eBay then will automatically start emailing the buyer to try to get them to pay. If I remember right, after 7 days you can open a non paying bidder case and eBay will require a response from the buyer. Either the buyer pays then or eBay closes the case after a set amount of time and you get your final value fees back. you can also agree to end the transaction and I don’t remember if that gets your fees returned to you. I have been through all of those cases in the last 3 months. If you go the computer browser version of eBay and look around in the help center you can usually find the specific process to take.

I think ebay is just chocked full of people with poor impulse control & no money. Oh, and assholes too. It's full of assholes.

Just open the case as soon as you are allowed to, and get your credit for fees as soon as possible. There are douche bags on eBay, but the vast majority are good customers. This guy is obviously a liar or an idiot or both. If you lost your job one day, it doesn't automatically drain all of your resources the next day. He could have come up with a better excuse. And the fact that he swooped in and outbid someone at the very end just pisses you off that much more. And block that bidder from future bidding on your listings (if you can still do that).

Problem is that Ebay allows people to do this with on ramifications. Happens to me. Nothing you can do but to file a claim and you get back all the fees. However, what sucks is if you have a time sensitive auction. I had a Batman that was released early. Put it up on Ebay and the guy won it but never paid. By the time all that was done, I just refunded it because it was one of those auctions that the person will bid lots on it to be one of the first to have it. Annoying, but that's Ebay. They're all about customer service for the buyers, but they seem to realize that if they f' over too many sellers, they're not gonna sell there.

I think they've gone too far regarding buyer protection, but I get how it happened. Best intentions and all that. I remember back in the early days getting hosed on a VAMP I paid for, but never received. I lost my money and that was that. There was absolutely no recourse back then. It was all "caveat emptor!" So while money back guarantees are a good thing, it's like they've extended protections to the entire shopping experience just to keep buyer confidence high. Seems like it's reasonable to suspend accounts after a certain number of no pays or bid retractions. |

Offer it to the bidder who was willing to pay 78 for it. It's called second chance offer. Look in the list of options.

Sometimes that looks like the seller had a shill bidder driving up the price.

Yeah, more often than not, I don't get a response for these. Sometimes I do get lucky and it sells for more the second time around though.
