Go for Intelligence Specialist. You get final top clearance and get to work in an office! Can't beat it at all!
If you are physically capable, you might consider trying out for SEAL team! Always wanted to do that.
You just be careful about the contract OK. Make sure the Navy College Fund and G.I. Bill are both in the contract.
If you have an associates degree, you qualify to be a E-3 out of boot camp. Usually, if you can get advanced rank, they try to good you up during boot so you loose your rank before you have it.
SO MAKE SURE IT IS IN THE CONTRACT!
ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR A-SCHOOL IS IN THE CONTRACT NO MATTER HOW CRAPPY YOUR PERFORMANCE IS.
What can happen is if you mess up in boot, they can make you what they call "undesignated." This is where you have no A school.
If this happens you get to go with the other 2 year enlistees.
The common slang name for these guys is "deck apes" because all they do is scrape paint and paint the ship.
Trust me, you don't want to be a deck ape. Make sure your A school is iron clad in the contract no matter how crappy you could get yourself into.
It is all in black and white. You can get alot out of the service. Just make sure it is the contract. And no matter what you do, never go in undesignated.
Alot of the times, the recruiter and the chief who you will be seeing to make the contract with will use the lines ".....with your time in and with the needs of the navy at the time you can qualifiy for ...."
This is their line to get you to go in undesignated.
Once you are undesignated, it is nearly impossible to get a A school.
You are already signed in at that point and you are US government property.
This is why you must take care of your own best interests as the contract is being drawn up. The military can give alot to you. Just make sure it is clearly on paper. Otherwise you won't get it.
Trust me on this! Good Luck buddy!

your recruiter is going to try an pigeon hole you in a spot he has to fill with whatever rate is available at that time. DO NOT LET HIM!
tell him you want to see a copy of The Bluejackets Manual, which will have every possible rate in the Navy and a description, find the one you want to do, and make sure you get it. if you need to take the ASVAB again, do it. this is your life.
I did almost 4 years in the Navy and never had an interest in staying in, I only joined for the G.I. Bill, so it didn't matter what job I took. I picked Machinery Repairman simply to spend 4 months in San Diego (which is now closed). but had I known all the rate options I had, I could have chosen differently.
your recruiter is just going to tell you what is available in the month you want to leave. if you have to delay entering a month or two to get the school you want, do it. I assure you, your recruiter isn't telling you half of what is available to you, he just wants to fill his quota. no matter how many cokes and pizzas they buy you, your recruiter is not your friend or your pal or your buddy. that's a fact.
Boot camp was a breeze, and should be for anyone in any semblance of shape. but there were 18 year old kids in my company that couldn't do 10 push-ups, those are the guys that have trouble with it.
the first couple of days are a shock and a blur, but you get adjusted pretty quickly and it actually becomes pretty enjoyable.
A school is a piece of cake. I went through two: a Basic engineering school called JOBS A, and the MR school. basic studying, written tests and hands on execution. you'll have duty watches, but liberty every night you don't and weekends. it's fine.
I only spent two months of my time on a ship, and the rest on shore duty, mostly in Guam, which was like a two year vacation. come to think of it, mos of my time was like a vacation. my last four months in I only worked 1 1/2 days a week in San Diego and spent most of my time playing midnight ice hockey and hanging at Mission Beach, so needless to say my military experience is not typical.
but you should have a good time. good luck.
