I have to admit this decade has been letdown city. When I was younger, my dad would always tell me when I was 5 "One day we're going to have robot maids and we'll fly to work". 2000 came and went. Still no robot maids. Still no flying cars. Still no everlasting gobstopper breakfasts. No cities on the moon, mars, or jupiter.
Robot technology has certainly advanced. The people who invented the actroid merged their technologies with the creators of the Honda bot to create a fusion of both. But we're still another 20 years from having B.A.T.s Flying cars are still a thing of the distant future. As cool as the idea sounds. I don't think having a dual aviation/drivers license would work. Food technology has moved in the exact opposite direction. In the post WW2, we wanted to make all food artificial and easy. With Alice Waters, Whole Foods, and local co-ops we're not going towards more mechanical production but more natural foods. As for space travel. No cities on the moon. No cities on Venus. Mars, cloud cities on Saturn and Jupiter. Anyone else feel like the future was a big letdown? What did you think the future was going to be in the 2000s? |

I am content with a debit card to be honest with you. It use to suck having to use my passbook all the time. I-Pods are neat inventions also, I wouldn't say all is a bust.

I like where we are headed (now that we are back on track)
We have blueray. lol, I don't know. All I know is this, we are up to quad core cpu's, In another 5 years we might have 64 core cpu's that can do anything. I think we are on the brink of something amazing with tech. Think 2015.

I think we have taken strides but not leaps and bounds in the technology field. Which is fine with me, just give me my OLED and flexible screens in the near future. All is not hopeless...

We will have electric cars everywhere by 2015. Wind and solar will also be everywhere.
Gas prices will crumble and I'll be lucky if I can find gas to fill up with all the hydrogen gas stations around.

to be honest the future is kind of a let down in some ways, seems companys are trying to make everything as cheaply made as possible and then charge the highest price possible for it. i never really feel that i get my money's worth when i buy something. sometimes i do but you would of thought we would use are resources better and find ways to make things more affordable. i guess technology has come a long way which is cool, its nice to be able to have the internet. hah

I'm a little tired of tiered upgrades....'Hey, here's DVD's....oh here's HD DVD's....Oh Blue Ray is better.....oh you'll need a flat screen TV....oh a BIG screen flat screen....OH and HD Big Screen TV. Here's an ipod....oh here's a bigger ipod....here's one with video....and here's a bigger one with video....here's one that's a phone.'
I'm a little tired and broke upgrading. Just stop releasing stuff until your all done upgrading it. I'm not gonna get a new cell phone until it can take and make calls, audio and video, surf the net, hook into a printer, create a word , excel, powerpoint document and has a 20 terrabytes of memory, send emails, have a calender, can take play and save pictures and video, has a hands free blu tooth capability play music, get cable tv, download movies (currently in theaters) in Blu Ray HD, widescreen, and can convert into a 87" widescreen, flat screen TV and do my damn dishes and laundry, and can kill a man with 90,000 volt blasts. AND can be upgraded by a simple download. Last edited by Owner of a Lonely B.A.T.; 06-27-2009 at 04:51 PM.. |
