The writing was on the wall, but I'm crushed all the same. :(

Was a diehard Jeff Gordon fan and felt the same way when Jeff retired. I lived and died with the 24 for so long that it just felt so weird not to care about the 24 car anymore each weekend for the past couple of years.
Junior is my second fav driver though... so probably my last link to Nascar is gone when he's finally done. I just pray he can get a win at one of the remaining plate races... Gordon and Stewart both got wins in their last season. Too bad Junior didn't get a chance to drive the 3 car again like he said he might... but at least he will still race in the xfinity series next year a couple of times.

You might consider following Chase Elliott in the #24. Amazing talent, son of a legend, and a guy I expect will bring the #24 to prominence once again. My 2nd fave is Brad K. I'm a Michigan guy, and I love 99% of his attitude--although he occasionally has made some stupid, bridge-burning comments before in regards to Hendrick Motorsports (cheating allegations, etc.). Concerning the #3...while I wanted to see Junebug drive it, don't forget that he won his two Busch series titles driving it! Kind of a been there, done that, I suppose, looking back now...

Hate to see him retire, seems like it wasn't that long ago he just started driving. But then I've barely followed nascar since Dale Sr died. End of an era for sure.

^ Kinda ironic... I only started watching Nascar in '01 because of all the attention that Dale Sr. got when he died.

Yes, hope he gets a win and sneaks into the Chase! Or whatever the heck it's called now... :/

And yah... more of a Larson fan than Chase... Chase reminds me too much of Jimmie. But IDK... just can't stay interested in Nascar anymore. And LOL. I hated the 2 after Texas 2014... I'll go to my grave thinking Brad trying to ram his way between the 48 and 24 cost Jeff his best shot at his 5th title. But once Jeff retired all that went away... I even kinda root for Bowyer now too... and I hated him the most. And yah... those Oreo and Nilla Splash cars were the best... but seeing an Earnhardt in the 3 car in cup again would have been amazing I think.
