This is unbelievable . . .
How can music production cost so much? I just got my son enrolled in a 7 month course, and it cost 9 thousand dollars. He could get an associate’s degree in marketing at a university for less than that. These music production programs are so short too. What can you expect to learn within just 7 months? People spend a lifetime honing their craft. I was sold on the ‘structure’ of things (Which I think is important. Good to master the basics. etc) but the cost seems a bit out of whack. |

Harbourside Institute (North Van). Read a brief review on them here: https://revolutioninthecity.com/musi...tion-schools//
Feels like a great school but yeah, in my opinion the pricing isn't justified. Last edited by AlexBoyKing; 11-24-2017 at 04:45 AM.. |

As someone in the field of education, I personally think education is worth the cost. It is training that you will use to support yourself for the rest of your life. Of course, if the quality of the training is low, then it is not worth it. If the quality is high, that is priceless.

That is expensive. You could almost buy four Lego Ultimate Millennium Falcons for that.

Seems high for a 1yr course. For the amount of info they're trying to cover I'd expect the $9000 fee to be a two year course.

You can absolutely attend a less expensive school and get a great education. I was under the assumption this school had some specialized training not available through less expensive means. You are also correct when you say education is just like every other purchase in terms of there being many choices available to paying customers. I guess it boils down to the question of what is the level of quality instruction that you are getting. If a higher price means better quality or specialized skill training you would miss out on by attending a cheaper school, it would be worth it to spend more. Other factors to consider would be the school's reputation, class size, and future networking opportunities. Some schools have professors or courses that will give students a competitive edge when seeking employment. I am not saying you have to spend a great deal to get a quality education, but sometimes more expensive schools may be the way to go. In this case, there may or may not be cheaper options that will work just as well. Unlike many other purchases, education can completely change your life and is one of the most, if not the most, important purchase you will ever make. I would not feel badly about spending a great deal on an investment of this magnitude.
