Well, it's been two months or so since I joined Hisstank and have gotten to "know" a lot of great people here. But since we really don't use first names as sceen names I am wondering what each one of yours means.
I'll go first: I love Snake-Eyes. If none of you have noticed, either a)you were high or b)you lived in a cve for the months I have been here. So I decided to honor the Silent one with my name, but I realized something: I never shut up. So then I changed the word silent to loud. IDK why there are brackets but i do it for every screen name So what's yours mean, Hisstank?

mine is just a play on the topic of this site and my name...i've never been in the military or anything like that...thinking about it now, it may have been more clever to use my middle name..."g.i.jay"...

I have had the nickname Kambei since about 1993. I was going to a lot of science fiction conventions at the time, and needed a name for my Original Series Trek Klingon character. One of my favourite films of all time is Kurosawa's Seven Samurai (I love the Magnificent Seven as well, Nearly went with Krys (Chris = Yul Brynner). As I was and still am rapidly losing what little hair I have, and going off my favorite character in the film, I chose the name Kambei, as played by the late, great Takashi Shimura. It stuck. I use it for every board I am a member of. In fact, my avatar is the original Kambei from the film.

Thought it up many years ago (BBSn and early AOL days - yes dial up.. early 90's), didn't associate it with any GI Joes at the time. I for some reason i wanted to incorporate a Snake and something stealthy.. so.... Shadow Viper.. names were taken on AOL at the time so i had to cut out the "w" and merge it into ShadoViper... i liked the sound of it. I had another variation, ShadoBoxer.. but SV it was.

Obviously mine is not Joe related. I first saw the original Shaft movie back in 1997 and while it is not the best movie in the world I still "dig it". There was even a time when I was a bachelor that the message on my answering machine had me singing my version of Shaft that went something like this:
Who is the man that is not at home, To pick up the telephone? Shaft! Whose the cat that can't talk back, Cause he's not at his shack? And so on... Besides Shaft is a bad mutha... |

I was looking through the dictionary to find some interesting words when I come across the word 'Phorpus', which I quickly wrote down to mean the name of a man who cleared the island of Rhodes of serpents and earned a place in the stars.
I've been using 'Phorpus' in every site I've been to so far and I liked it, had a nice ring to it. But then I tried to look up 'Phorpus' again but found out it isn't a word. So I go back to the same dictionary, go through the 'Phor's and realize the actual name is 'Phorbas'. But I still like 'Phorpus' so I've been sticking with it. If you google it you can even find where I've had that name. I think every time you see a 'Phorpus' it'll be me...except on Fanfiction.net, where there's a 'Phorpus' who writes adult Harry Potter stories.
