I have read every incarnation of GL and can honestly say that the current run is by far my favorite. I would gladly send you my single issues and trades just to show you what I think you're missing if I hadn't already loaned them out to my nephew and friends. |

This just makes me sad. There are so many great books being put out right now with higher quality in art, storytelling, and production than ever before.
Everyone has different tastes, but if you honestly can't find a great book out there to enjoy right now, you probably wouldn't have ever been happy with the general state of comics. |

There are more crappy books then good books. There's some good books and ALOT of books that are thought "good" when they're really just crap.
Captain Britain and MI:13 getting canceled was very sad. I think it's the "write in arcs" (for trade paperback publication) that killed it for me the most. Things like Grayson/Batman and Bucky/Cap worked better back in the older days when instead of it being 4 or 5 (at the most) stories in a year, you had the potential for 12 issues of that character and it's development. The Steve Rogers return just doesn't seem right to me, even though it's been like 2-3 years of Bucky/Cap because really it's only been 4 or 5 stories of Bucky/Cap and it seems like he hasn't been given the chance to develop into his own character.

A rare time where we agree. Let's take a photo?

Anybody else wish characters would stay dead when killed off especially when they make such a big deal out of it?
It's messed up that the only comic characters that stay dead are usually female, or heroes nobody cares for. To this day I still wish Superman was dead hah. |

4 issues, you can tell a BIGGER story, but it doesn't allow for more character development. It's really only equivalent to 1 or 2 issues of development.

(oh yeah, didn't mean Grayson/Batman better then Wayne/Batman, Grayson won't be in the Bat suit long enough to come to a good opinion, a year is not long enough for a character to develop; but Grayson is a much cooler character then Wayne ever could hope to be, Wayne's pretty one dimensional) When's Jean Grey coming back? Look at SE. I don't like the uber ninja version anymore than the rest of you, but as a silent hero with a tragic past, walking the line between fighting for purpose and for revenge, is a great story. Look at 21 and 155 in the Marvel run, where, respecitvely, without a word (from anyone) and with enough words that we understand he's practically been saving them for the entire series. They were great moments of character developement, and showed Snakey in a different light. As for another uber-one noter? Wolverine. "I'm rude, sarcastic, a jerk, but I do cool stuff." We got it, we understood. But when the character moved past that, whenever he's thrust in a leadership position and forced to think of others, or even pre-memory wipe Wolverine from the Origins moive was almost sympathetic to me, which is saying a lot, as I really don't like the character that much. Oh, and Jean Grey has been confirmed to be coming back at SDCC panels and interviews with Marvel... My guess is, look at that mutant messiah, Hope. Red hair. Green eyes. Uber powerful... Hurm. Some are alright. Problem is, for every good un, you get like, 3 duds. Not to mention, inconsistant story telling. Look at Angel After The Fall. With Bryan Linch writing it, it was a spectacular (IMHO) continuation of Angel, and while the book didn't feel like the series, it was because it wasn't supposed to be. The book went farther down the story than what probably would have been possible, but the characters WERE the characters, or at least more-than-acceptable progressions of what they had become. They still thought, talked, acted and believed in things that they did or should. And the ending to the arc, issue 17, was GREAT. Easily one of my top endind moments for any comic story-- SPOILERS to those who haven't read it and care--- Angel discovers the reason the big bad guys want him alive is that he will apparently be a key player in the apocalypse, and Angel, with this information, gives the following monologue to close out the arc- My name is Angel. I've done very bad things, and I'm destined to do worst. But for now, I'm here to help. If you've read any of the new series and saw the old tv show, it sends chills. But now, the writing is horrible. Its unimaginative. Angel is fighting friggin were-jaguars. It's like bad, wish-fullfillment fan fiction, and all the female characters wear belly shirts. Really? All of them? Ugh!!! We don't need sex appeal when there's good writing! The action is sloppy, the plot ill-formed and not well depicted, things happen for little or no reason, the characters aren't themselves (the only part of Angel they have right is that he's a quiet guy), it's BAD. Can't wait for Lynch to return after the next issue. Quote:
