For a while now, collecting toys has been more of a burden than a pleasure, it's like when you stop smoking to look cool and your just smoking because your addicted and your not even enjoying it anymore. The main reason was the cost, I have spent a ridiculous amount on toys in the last few years, and the last six months have gotten even worse.
So, I decided that something had to change before I either declare bankruptcy or get burned out on collecting all together. My solution was very simple: I put myself on a strict monthly toy budget. regardless of whats out there I can't go over X amount. whereas before, I would go hunting and pick up whatever I needed, now I have to research whats going to be available and decide which items I must have and which can wait till later. The result: Toy collecting is fun again! I'm really enjoying this for the first time in a long time, I get a great feeling of satisfaction when I find the items I'm looking for and know that I didn't spend what people in some foreign countries make in a year. Just thought I would share this with my fellow Tankers. |

I agree completely. What I love about collecting GiJoe is I only buy what I want or looks cool. I also collect minimates. However with minimates I collect all license and assortments. When new joe figures coem out I get excited and start searching. When minimates come out I get disappointed at the money I'm spending and I just preorder. It's more fun to collect what you love and actually search for it. It brings more meaning to the little guys once you bring them home.

haha. You mean money right? That's not the point, I make enough money. the problem is, if you don't have intelligent spending habits, the more you make the more you spend. That's why Mike Tyson and so many other Sports figures go broke after making millions.

I have always done this. Gotta have a budget going in or you'll end up making some big mistakes.

The guy was also so pampered he didn't even know how to wash his own clothes or even use the washing machine. Somehow, being tied to the Cleveland Browns makes me feel like this could be why he pissed it all away. Qb's in the Browns organization never really amount to much. Tim Couch anyone? And, ironically Brady Quinn, actually WANTED to play there. Like if he could choose a team, he wanted to go there. (Rolls eyes) |

I have trying to cut back also. I have gone from $500 a week to $250 in toys and it's helping.
