They don't need to kill her character off, they can still mention her... and hell, Rogue One had a digital Leia so they could even do that.

This is just so unreal. I think I am going to quit for a while until this blows over, I don't post that often anyway. I also quit Facebook, Hell, I don't even want to go out right now, deaths are sad, but Carrie's is exceptional. seriously, I haven't grief like this since a friend of mine as well as Robin Williams died.. I'm actually asking, why go on? what's the point of living? I don't think I will ever be happy again.

R.I.P. Debbie Reynolds. A great Hollywood Star passes.
It is incredible that Carrie and her mother die in a few days.

This is gonna sound trite and cliched, but it always gets better...if you want it to get better, that is. A lot that happens is out of our control, but how we deal with it and carry on is entirely up to us. The Buddha was right about so much, but his most important message is probably the truest truth that was ever truthed, "What we think, we become." So carry on! The alternative is to wither and waste.

I'd be lying if I said I NEVER had a crush on Carrie when I was younger. But any crush I had dissolved fairly quickly. But I loved the way she portrayed Princess Leia. And I loved that Carrie was real about how imperfect her Hollywood life was, and real about her addictions and mental illness. She was a REAL human being and we all felt like we knew her because of that. She helped shaped our childhoods but she also helped shape our adulthoods. I watched "Wishful Drinking" before she died (I think I watched it Christmas Eve), and she made me laugh hard, but I also cried a little, because she'd obviously been through some crap, and I didn't want her to die. This is one of the celebrity deaths (like Robin Williams) that's hit me hard. I was sad when Paul Walker died, but this is different.

Some might know, and some don't but my wife died last year and I decided to keep living the best I could. The alternative was to wither and that's not what she wanted. Fast forward a year, I've met someone else, fell in love again and I asked her to marry me. We're planing on June next year. So it's true, you have all the power to turn tragedy into something positive. You have to fight.
