QUOTE] To be fair we havent exactly defended Europe in any war for 60 years. Infact its the other way round. We asked France, England and Germany for help invading Iraq. A war most American now agree was a mistake. But that would be opening up a whole new can of worms. European countries that hopped aboard were Spain, Italy, Poland, England, countries which devote a miniscule porportion of their budget on the military, yet we nevertheless asked them for support in the Iraq War. America got attacked and now we know which countries are our true allies. Some of those countries did not even need to be asked (God bless England)

As of 2004 we had over 115,000 military personnel stationed in the European Command. We've had troops there ever since WWII. Do you think thats cheap or free? We've kept Europe OUT of any Wars due to our being there.

But your right that’s not the topic.

And we've had up to 400,000+ troops stationed in Europe during the heights of the Cold War.

You really think so? Extreme patriotism, being run by a dictator and cartelizing the economy to get to Socialism? Can you explain further please?

I think America has the most perfected self system of government devised by man. Of course it has many flaws, but that is because it's people has flaws.

But you still need to be aware of all the facts...
I have no idea how much money we've spent on the perpetual 'defense' of Europe since 1945, but I can assure you it is a lot of money. Was it all out of sheer goodwill? Of course not, we needed to stop the Russians from moving further West, and if we propped up the Europeans we could use them as a bulwark to prevent an attack on the U.S. proper. However, as a result of all that, most of the European nations realized they did not need to spend excessively on military training and hardware, and could rely on the U.S. if needed. Thus giving them plenty of money to spend on social services. And what do we get for all that time protecting them? Anger and bitterness.
