You should go after any job that peaks your interest. For instance, if you like food, try a fast food restauant. If you like clothes and fashion, try to get a job at a retail store. If you are a outdoors type of person, try detasseling or getting part time work on a farm or something like that. Just do whatever you feel you might want to wake up every day and do. If it doesn't work out, you are young enought that you can change your mind and try something different...
BTY my first job was detasseling for a local company. I also worked part time for a scrapyard. Then i hit fast food and have been in the food industry ever since. I have had many other jobs in between, like factory work, i worked at a greenhouse, and i was even a supervisor at a local newspaper... Good Luck...

My first job ever was working at a locally-owned pizza place. I waited tables, cooked, did deliveries, the whole enchilada, er, calzone.
It was the most fun I ever had at the workplace 'cause I didn't give a damn. I remember people would call five minutes before we closed wanting something delivered out to B. F. E. on a gravel road and I would just pick up the phone and hang it back up. And then I'd play pickle baseball with the big spatula they used to take the pizzas out of the oven with. I'll never forget an irate co-worker storming into the kitchen one night demanding to know why she's out waiting tables and is suddenly nearly hit in the head by a pickle that I hit out of the ballpark. I remember the elderly lady in the translucent nightgown I delivered a pizza to one time. I didn't know that women could get that hairy... The major delivery person was not the most hygienic of persons. I remember one time he was mixing up salad dressing in a bucket with his arm. He later got condemned by the health department and was not allowed in the kitchen. He was rather illiterate as well, with a surly attitude to go with his offensive body odor. I still laugh remembering the night he wrote something that looked like "Oat off orenz" on the soda machine when it wasn't working. Good times... My first job was working for my dad doing weed control on industrial sites for oil companies. Not recommended. Of course by High School it was fast food. Worked at a Whataburger knock off restaurant in the Dallas area called Beefer Burger!

Main thing in this economy is to find a job you can take any amount of pride in and stick with it. You'll work your way to where you want to be. Not sure what is in Kentucky but even fast food has a lot of fast opportunities to move up fast. Maybe best buy if you like media. My roommate has only worked at ours for a few months and he's already in the running for management. A little hard work goes a long way

Detasseling is taking the tassels off of corn. Usually you walk down the rows of corn and pull the tassels off. It pays really well, but it is really long and hot work...I know, i probably spelled it wrong...I need to install spellcheck on my pc...
