I recently got my hands on Empire Total War, its really cool, but they took away the console cheats, so the campaign mode is a total bitch. Anyway I recently just saw another RTS game specializing in 18th century European Wars, its is more old school 2D style than Total War but you can command more troops and larger battles. Have any of you guys played this?

Looks like a mod for American Conquest, which is derived from an even older game called Cossacks. I never played that one, so can't tell you much about it. It has a good (not great) reputation among RTS fans.
I am a Total War junkie, but didn't care for Empire nearly as much as Rome and Medieval 2. |

Try Supreme Commander. It's the sequel to the greatest RTS ever made Total Annihilation
C&C and Red Alert 1 and 2 were soooo great. Also, if you like MMO games with the feel of a FPS and strat of a RTS, try PLANETSIDE. 3 empires with hundreds of people battling for land and bases. Sooo much fun. over 40 vehicles and everyone in the game is a real person playing. Follow the link in my signature. I play it anytime I can and love it.

The Command & Conquer games (especially C&C3), Starcraft, Star Wars - Empire at War, and Warhammer 40K - Dawn of War.
I just heard that Blizzard is aiming to release the first installment of Starcraft 2 before year's end (although with them who knows) and Square Enix is working on Supreme Commander 2 as well. But the C&C games are really my favorites, especially since their what I've always imagined a G.I. Joe RTS would be like. As you can tell by my sig it's the kind of game I'd really like to see made one day. Last edited by Nemesis*Prime; 06-03-2009 at 07:25 PM.. |

Speaking of c&c Red Alert my favorite tanks are the Mammoth tanks and the allied Prism tanks in Red Alert 2
Still nothing beats the Tesla coils when defending your base. |

The Soviet Apocalypse tanks were always my favorite unit from Red Alert 2. However, for Red Alert 3, the Soviet's Twinblade chopper holds that distinction since it carries about as much firepower and isn't vulnerable to ground defenses.
Not including Prism tech in RA3 was a disappointment but at least EA still included Tesla Coils. |
