Well it looks like my girlfirend is pregnant... sigh... We have a had a few scares in the past but this time it looks to be a sure thing. We have taken 4 home tests and plan on going to the doctor next week. She is already getting morning sickness and just the smell of some foods are making her want to vomit.
This will be my first child..... I have gone from freak out mode to just shocked to denial to being in shock again. Now I'm finally starting to accept it. It's been a very stressful last 2 months. I just felt like sharing with the Tankers. I'm still a fairly young guy and I've always been a party boy. I guess it's finally time to start growing up a bit. Any advice would be appreciated. |

it only takes 75cents to save a toy collection. lol well if you weren't using protection then sorry it's your fault. but this may be the greatest moment of your life. you're on your way to a great adventure in your life. so congrats and good luck.

My advice?
Fatherhood is the scariest, hardest, most frustrating, WONDERFUL thing that could happen to you! Congrats Dude! I have 3 kids myself--7, 3 and 1. Currently my wife works and I do not. My kids thing I hung the moon and stars for some reason. They fight over who gets dad's attention the most, i.e lap time, play time, set on the couch time. I have seen my kid's at the dinner table rush to grab their drinks to take a drink the same time I do, just to be like me. There are tough times and your life will change, but I would not give up fatherhood for every Joe, toy, hell all the money in the world! Enjoy it! |

Congrats. The biggest thing I miss about being married was being a father to my step-kids. Miss them every single day and every single hour and minute of the day.
Don't waste your time, enjoy every minute. Kids are the greatest thing. They'll drive you crazy but you'll love every minute of it. edit: Sorry, but that part about having a few scares.. that's what protection is for. Use it

Well how does your girlfriend feel about this? It sounds like you don't want to have a kid, does she? I mean there's options like giving the kid up for adoption, generally when giving up a baby a new family is found pretty quick... and I'm not advising you to do this, just that there is options if you don't feel prepaired or willing to take on this responsibility, and if abortion is out of the question. If you do want to keep the kid and this is just jitters, or she's sure she wants to keep the kid. Start setting aside some money each month to help pay for expenses... maybe look at getting an education fund set up. And of course talk to your parents and her parents or whatever relatives are closeby, so you can build up a network to help take care of the kid, and give you two some quite time once it gets a bit bigger. And good luck! *not a parent but this is just how I see it*

Thanks for the support guys. |

Dude don't give the kid! Don't make a mistake you will regret. It will not be easy, especially since you are not prepared, but man you are bein blessed with the most awesome thing--YOUR child.
That is how you have to think about it. This is not just a baby, this is YOUR baby, it's got YOUR blood in it's veins, it will have YOUR looks, YOUR name! You get he honor of guiding this child and helping him/her grow into a positive wonderful human being! Don't give that up! |

we were using protection. We changed up her birth control in early April and slipped up then. It's ok though, I guess.
