Well Christmas is my favorite time of year and seems to go faster and faster every year. Although my wife and I celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas by keeping the decorations up and lights on it always seems to be a little sad after Christmas day is done. We have discussed do like a stocking stuffer each day but have not done that yet because, well, we can't really afford to do that it's nice to have the decorations up. This year however, was probably the worst year in out personal lives ever. The whole year really sucked, from January tbrought December something happened. And this year my wife was not into Christmas at all so it was another downer. Then yesterday she said it's kinda sad that Christmas is over....go figure.
Without my little depressing story I am a big kid and always hate to see the Christmas season end. Seems like forever to come again and goes by so quick...anyone else feel like that? |

This year I was so busy that Christmas was upon us before I knew what was happening. I still put out my Nativity scene with the help of my dad and wife and even strung up lights on the house. I finally got off a couple days before Christmas and Christmas itself. But this year we cut back on gifts because of a trailer we're buying and I started thinking more about trimming my collection down to the bare minimum. But like you I feel sad about the time we start taking down the tree and decorations. But I remember the reason I celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ the Savior and realize I have Christmas all year long. I hope 2015 will be better for you and your wife my friend.

Lights on the day after Thanksgiving. Off the day after New Year. Tree up as well. We're starting off slow with the lights.
Fridge full of Egg Nog. Several Christmas DVDs, Christmas Vacation, Die Hard, Fred Claus. The one thing that extends it for me every year is getting a village piece, a house, church or village person. I have three buildings so far, I date the bottom with the year I get it. Soon I'll have a Christmas Village. Plan activities, no matter how mundane. This year my wife was feeling better so we were able to decorate the house and make Christmas Dinner for my parents. First time I've ever cooked for my family. Family stuff is much better than any gift giving and I'll remember these memories more than gifts.

Yesterday, my girlfriend twisted my arm to take down the Christmas decorations. I help her take down the tree, I took down the lights, packed them up and brought them to my storage unit.
When I got home, the house felt so empty and melancholy and it just made me sad. Just like the rest of you, Christmas time is my favorite time of year.

In my house I put up the Christmas decorations Christmas Eve and leave them up until the end of Chinese New Year. I only do the inside of the house. This year it's on Feb. 19 so I got a bit of a ways to go. Although these days I have the lights turned off until the week of the 19th.
The way I see it you have to go through the non Christmas times to appreciate the fun when it comes again next year. I just turn my focus to other things that need my attention and totally move on. Then again, I'm kind of like that in general. Last edited by sharky; 01-11-2015 at 11:41 AM.. |
