Ok so many of you guys know me from years back. I've been making deals online before 2004. I still remember the radio I bought for my old car. The purchase was made online and I made a bank transfer I think.
But my very first deal was in 2004 I got a brand new still in package Screaming Eagle that arrived to me in a huge box. You could fit a TV in it. Since then I made thousands of deals over ebay, hisstank and other forums and websites. I got my ass scammed before once on ebay, a friend sent a MO for me since the seller didn't have paypal. Well I never got the item so I lost around $15 or so in that one. Years later was here at the thank I made a trade, don't even remember the user anymore, I got him several ROC figures still MOC probably around $50 of it or so. I never got my share although he always said he did but never showed be the receipt as he said he would. So I got scammed again and the user afaik is still an active one here. Anyway whats past is past and this is not why I'm writing you this story. A couple of weeks back I decided to buy a set of new wheels bigger ones for my car. Two of the tires have to replaced soon so this was a good time for something I had in mind for several years. I wanted something used since I didn't want to spend too much cash. Eventually I found a set that would fit my car in ebay.de. The price was ok but still a bit over what I had to spend. So I made offers he declined, eventually he proposed me to conclude the deal outside ebay, this way he wouldn't pay fees. I know big mistake. I guess you can more or less guess what happen. Anyway it was not the first time someone proposed me this in fact some buyers had suggested me this before while selling my deals. The only difference here was the amount of money involved and the payment method. He didn't have paypal but that was already in the listing details. Pick up cash or ban transfer were the options. Needless to say that his ebay feedback was spotless more then 400 deals and 100% positive feedback. Maybe if the user was from some other country I would step back but northern Europe people are seen as honest and serious. Well I made the transfer and the money entered his account probably yesterday. I had his phone number and email I sent him an SMS this time no reply. Later in the day decided to send him an email and that was when I realized I was scammed. The email was no longer active. Called him, phone was switched off and it is from Lyca network pretty much one of those disposable sim cards. In summary I lost over €400. Seems like we have this type of people also in Germany. I thought this type of deals were only possible here in Portugal. He planned this before hand for sure maybe he would do the same if the deal was done in ebay. Everything was decided in minutes did he have enough time to create an email and go and buy a sim card on purpose just for this? I guess he was only honest when he said he was going off the country for 1 month. Maybe not for 1 month but more and he just didn't care about anything else even his ebay account if he happen to close the deal there. I doubt I can do anything. I will call my bank but what can they do. I could call the Police in Germany but not sure if they would do anything either. The bank will not supply any details to the Police without a court order at least it is like this in Portugal and I'm sure it's the same all over Europe. Maybe in US it is easier no idea. Lesson learned do not use anything but paypal and avoid make high payments over the net specially with private ebay users. People have two faces and one of them you will only know when it is too late.

I would have told him to send the tires first then I would send the money over.
If it doesn't involve Paypal or a credit card, I have no control over the transaction once I send money over. So I won't send money over until I see the goods with my own eyes. Also, if you and the outside party deal without Paypal protection and credit cards, his goods aren't protected either, so once you get his goods, he can only pray you will send money. This keeps you secure and transfers all the danger and risk of the transaction to him. |

Does his ebay account have a shipping address? Or the better question. How much time, money, and effort is the revenge worth. Sometimes it's better to just let it go and learn from our mistakes. The choice is yours.
