It was in Louisiana, and the worthless bastards are not allowed to touch a person's driver's license per state law. My vehicle has a South Carolina tag, and I have a driver's license from another state. Currently, a slew of lawyers and state councilmen are fighting to remove the unconstitutional pieces of s*** from the local lamp-posts, and they had a majority vote to bring them down recently. Over 29,000 people are just like me in this city, in that they defiantly refuse to give the scumbags one red cent. So, in short, the kangaroo courts can all kiss my American ass. |

A well-written appeal/explanation may get the fine reduced, but you'll still have to pay something. If you have no record of being a reckless California driver, your chances are even better.
Had a similar issue, last summer. A photo light tagged me when I made a left turn (on red) from a one way street onto another one way street. Bluebiker's right--- you have to come to a complete stop (beofre the crosswalk and the marker), then inch forward and make your turn. Really sucks, so I can empathize. Pretty soon they'll be issuing us indecent language tickets when we curse at these things (sorta' like the movie "Demolition Man"). Oh.. but the part that concerns me more about your case is having a rental agency involved. Make sure THEY are not the ones jerking you around. I could see them charging some additional BS "fee" to you over this ticket. The rental agency assessed me a $25 admin charge to process the information and transfer the liability over to me (as per my agreement). They sent me a copy of the summons they received, but it will be re-issued with MY information (because they gave it to them) and assigned a new number, again as per my agreement. |

Louisiana law makers are trying to ban them now and if the bill passes they will have to be removed by January 2010. I so hope this thing goes thru.

Woo HOO!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no problems at all with the law enforcement community. It is the CASH REGISTER MENTALITY of the Redflex and Orleans Parish kangaroos that upset me most. |
