I am waiting for the actual citation to be issued to me. It was org issued to the Rental Company and they provided all of my contact info to the department.
That said, if it was say $100, I don't think I would make such a big deal. But I am not sure HOW right I was, so I def think I have some responsibility in it. |

The funny thing (if one can even call it that) is that Night Court is available for a trial. As soon as I saw that, the theme from "Night Court" played in my head and I wondered if the same wacky antics would take place there as they did on the show.....

Holy Smoking Guns Batman!!! That ticket was 440.00 for you turning right at a red light??!!! That's damn near ridiculous!!! In fact that is ludicrous beyond ludicrous!!! I'd fight my ass off to not pay that damn thing and I would have the Press have this outlandish report put on the 10:00 news!!

If there's no "no turn on red" sign, then you're covered. Take a pic of the intersection as evidence and if you're lucky the prosecutor will understand and just toss it without a fight.
I don't know how it is out west, but here you need to make notice of a plea of not guilty at least two weeks in advance. Just make sure to read all the fine print on the citation and summons and you should be fine and unfined. |

I am just waiting for the citation to come to me. I have a copy that was issued by the rental company, but the pictures are hard to see.

the pic should be online ... it will show you turning and the cars that
activated the camera (if not yours) in the middle of the intersection during a red light. my gf just got one of these for THE EXACT same thing. and they threw it out.

So apparently I got a Red light ticket in California for $440. The rental company received a notice and have fwd my info to the local department for processing.
A few weeks ago , I took a right turn on red and the camera went off. Now, I know this area and I take right turns on red all day long at this light and there is no "No Right Turn on Red" signs, arrows or other indications. I am a non resident in CA but I work and pay taxes here. Any suggestions on either beating it, reducing it or having it thrown out?

sorry bud you are scewed. if you dont stop completely and make that right turn on that red you will get tagged. you have to be completely stopped before turning to not get hit. thoes stupid cameras are sensative. same thing happened to my wife. ask the judge to change it to a moving violation and ask to do the school so it doesnt hurt your dmv. trying to fight it isnt going to happen in this state. they are scraping all kinds of offences to get every tax/fine dollar they can get from the people .
Do I need to apply for a CA license anyway? |

Cameras giving tickets is crap. They have been banned in TX I believe because its unconstitutional. Fight it! In a normal ticket, an officer has to show up to speak his side in court but in this case there is no one to go up against so in a real court case if no one shows up in defense of the ticket it should be thrown out.
Welcome to 1984 by the way....
