Always nice to remember when we were all kids and what stuck and didn't stick with us. The fact is, that gi joe stuck with us and for many of us, like myself, we are having kids that age now that we would like for them to experience the fun of gi joe. It's just fun, or we wouldn't be doing it.

Gotta say it is definitely about the nostalgia/childhood memories for me. I was fortunate enough to have a really great childhood. I was an only child and I had nearly every Joe toy made from 82-89. I was seven when Joe first hit the shelves and I loved every minute....For me Joes replaced Star Wars because they were so much more poseable.
I love reliving those childhood happy times, so that is why I collect Joes, and all toys.

The nostalgia and being able to do it MY WAY this time around is what did it for me. When I saw the 25th Anniversary figures about to be released, I made it a point to make sure that I got them...

I think that my attachment to GI JOE stems from growing up in a time where the military was thought much higher of. This was in a Reagan world where it was okay to have military might. It was a world where being a soldier was what little boys wanted to be. This was the America I grew up with. This is the America I still cherish. That is why I love GI JOE. That is why I hope it never goes away. My opinion. Not looking for a political bloodbath here. ;0)

One of the coolest things was the whole time I was in the Marine Corps and I would see actual uniforms, or gear, or weapons...just anything that I remembered playing with with my Joes. I was stationed on the U.S.S. Constellation, so someday I would love to own the U.S.S. Flagg considering I lived on an actual aircraft carrier for two years of my life. Just little correlations like that are fun.
As for how I got into collecting them in the first place......I can't remember. More than likely I was influenced by my buddies. I think Zartan was my first figure. Ah, the good ole days.

I was born in '79, so I'm not sure exactly when I started "getting into" GI Joe. I remember the old Sunbow series and having several figures and vehicles. I know I had a Terrordrome and a FLAGG.
I also went shopping w/ my step-dad, but only about 1/month, while he and my mom were split up. He got me a lot of the vehicles I ended up having and pretty much anything I couldn't find in Hutchinson Ks, where I lived w/ mom.
Now it stems from what started as a nostalgic purchase for my oldest son. I wanted to see what he'd think of GI Joe so I got him a few and YouTubed some cartoons for him. Pretty soon it's all he wanted to buy and he wanted me to play so much that we started buying up some of my old favorites for me.
The DVD Packs sent it over the hill and when they got hard to find I just started getting what I could. Now we can't find anything new or that we want and I'm afraid he'll get bored w/ them and move on to something else.
So thank the Gods for the 'Tank and the fact that I'm still needing to read most of the comic books.
In fact all I've ever read besides the 25th Comic Packs, is the DDP America's Elite line which I have in entirety exept for Storm Shadow's and any other branches/side stories I'm unawaer of.
So all in all I guess my renewed joy of GI Joe is a case of my attempting to pass on a memory gone wrong... , or would that be right? lol

I got into joes because of articulation. Satr Wars was cool but didnt move the way people did. When I saw my first joes back in 82 I was hooked on the bendable elbows and knees, then I saw the cartoon and the rest was history.
Now I get them to share that excitement with my son. We watch the old cartoons on dvd and play with the 25th line. Before joes he would watch some card game cartoon on tv or play video games, now he gets in the floor and makes up his own adventures. I would much rather spend time looking for lost weapons or misplaced toys than here about some crappy pokemon toy/card.

I'm 12. I don't like sports. I don't have a lot of friends. (The only ones I have collect Gi Joe too) I don't have a girlfriend.
But I have an imagination (Something a lot of kids these days don't have) and a deep love for action figures.
