This was on awhile ago. What they mean is that there would be nothing left of what made us uniquely human in the modern age. The way we store and record information is digital now. For all of our advancements, if something were to happen, all of that digital information would be useless after 100 years.
Stone, the most primitive form of information storage, is also the most durable. So, potentially, those cultures could outlast us afterward. There would be remnants of buildings, and all those other things mentioned, but no one would know how we got from stone tablets to skyscrapers. Everything we are doing now is simply lost in an event like that. Watch the show, it's kind of interesting and depressing at the same time. Most people simply want to make a mark on the world, but if there is no one around to remember that mark (or maintain it), it's simply lost forever.

I don't think the pyramids would be unrecognizable. They're in the middle of a desert, are they not?

Anyways, my point to this would be that things don't have to be destroyed to vanish from the surface of the earth. |

There is a good documentary on the Chernobyl disaster and the containment area 20 years after all humans have been removed. Nature has taken back over, wildlife all around, endagered horses are doing well. It was amazing to see what happens after just 20 years of no humans.

I picture somewhere far into the future, ultra intelligent humanoids digging up box sets of reality tv DVD's and telepathically stating "They deserved to be wiped from the face of this planet!".
