Profits for HAS during 1st qtr was down 47 percent. Revenues were down 12 percent. Company said that the the worst is probably behind. HAS optimistic pn GI Joe/TF. Stock was down 92 cents to 26.96.
According to David Hargreaves, the CFO, there was a single digit percentage price increase in Feb 2009 but expected no further increases for the rest of the year assuming no major events. FYI, Brian Goldner, the CEO, made $7.3 million in 2008. $930,000 was base salary. Bulk of the rest was performance based bonus. Last edited by CG76; 04-21-2009 at 01:29 PM.. |

yes cuse they didnt make enough new figs and they back the wrong horse. repaints after reapints & reuse of the same mold over and over agin kind of dose that. with TF they are all about the movie and alot of the ppl liked the clasic/ universe line. i know i love it and it is hard to spend money on toys when there is no new stuff.

Damn recession. Hope things pick back up. My family and I are doing good, but my Grandma's husband lost $20,000 from his retirement and my great uncle lost $48,000. Luckily I'm pretty poor so I haven't had that problem.
I don't like reading about my favorite toy company losing profit. I thought for sure all of the money I spent on Joes, Transformers, and Marvel Universe this past year would have been enough to keep them in the black.

Has is stiil a good stock, I watched in in Feb when it went down to 21 a share, so where it is now is still a profit. This happened last year also, prior to the 25th line it was at 21 a share and went up to 41. It is a "buy after Christmas stock and sell in the summer stock". Sipmle math, the are a good bet.

this is fantastic news..im glad their stock is down...THEY HAVE SUCKED ELEPHANT SCROTES as of late with their laszy figure and unjustified prices. Lower your prices on your over priced junk boneheads and maybe your stock will go back up.

gasbro always shoots them self in the foot . this prove it. Profits may have been down, but they DID still make a profit...which is more than can be said for a whole hell of a lot of businesses in this current economy. Oh, and the lack of any major media tie-ins beyond Clone Wars (which as noted, the Star Wars brand was a growth segment in the last two quarters) in the last six months SURELY has nothing to do with anything...surely. Or yeah, that whole recession thing, since Hasbro's chief competitor Mattel also posted earnings that were way down for the quarter (in fact...Mattel LOST money this past quarter). In other words the ENTIRE TOY MARKET is down. Last edited by Jmacq1; 04-20-2009 at 02:08 PM.. |

Eveybody can say what they want, but from a financial stanpoint Hasbro was one of the largest winners last year, and in a recession they doubled their stock at one point whe eveybody else was tanking. Not to mention they perfromed so well their head was deemed CEO of the year.
