What is the worst job you ever had? How long did you stay? What ultimately made you quit?
Mine was working in a call center for a telemarketing compnay that solicited donations for the firefighters, veterans and police. The company measured your success by how many cents per call you were worth and that included busy #s, hang ups, everything. The managers were just guys who had done good on the phones and had no idea what they were really doing. A bunch of punks in their early 20s. I was there for a year. I hated it. I actually had dreams about bodyslamming my boss. Finally quit and moved from WV to PA. Anybody else wanna share? |

First job at 16 was in a grocery store. At 17 they moved me back to work in the meat/butcher department. Man I dreaded the weekends because I would have to go back to that cold hellhole and work with jerks and idiots. Some of the All Stars were named "Horse," Cuz," "Cajun," and "Big Mike."
Oddly, Big Mike's name was not even Michael. Strange but true. I love my job now, though.

I forged steel in Detroit for 6 years. We forged anything from 100lbs up to 45,000lbs. It was very hot and I got burned every day. I drove a manipulator on the 750 ton open die press and my dad ran the 1400 ton press.
I don't miss it AT ALL!!! It was like the prison life I never had...LOL |

I tried cold call telemarketing right after High School. I lasted 3 hours and gave my famous "two day" notice (i.e. I am leaving to-day).
That was the only real job I didn't get along with, everything else I was able to roll with until it was time to move on. |

Working at McDonalds when I was 16.
Don't get me started on the horrors of that place. But at least I looked cute in the outfit. |

Worked as a ranch hand for a couple years. Buckin' bails of hay was the worst. I got frickin' ripped but, totally not worth it.

Working at the age of 6 on my grandfathers ranch feeding chickens and harvesting carrots. Had to pull carrots out by hand but that was my fave job as a kid compared to a door to door salesman

Toys R Us
YUP-worked there Senior year in the back unloading trucks and bringing bikes, PowerWheels and large ticket items up front. Had to load them in the customer's cars too. Since this was during the summer, some customer's wanted to tip you like two bucks and tell you to go buy a soda. We weren't allowed to but I always happily accepted them figuring I had earned it. We were required to wear BLACK pants, blue shirts AND vests. This while unloading 53 foot trailers packed from front to back. I was lucky if I got 16 hours a week. This was months before I left for college and was trying to save money. Of course the 16 year old snot up front was working 45+ hours as a cashier.... I was glad to finally leave-most unbelievably bunch of no nothing putzs that workled there. A ton of them are still there too |
