That's the one thing I'd be worried about if a Bear fan, Cutler's ego. He's already shown himself to be fragile and me-first. Football is a business, the GM and head coaches job is to always look out for the team first, not one single player.
I'm sure McDaniels was looking forward to coaching Cutler, the guy does have talent, but when he's approached with a deal that could help the team out, it's his job to at least consider it. Now the question is how Cutler will do with the Bear's receivers and O-Line. But like someone says, he just has to be "ok" and not do anything that hurts them (throwing bad interceptions) and with the Bears D (if they can get it back on track), then the Bears could do some damage. I think that's why Angelo pulled the trigger on this deal, closing window of oppotunity. The current Bears D is old and on the downslide (Urlacher hasn't been one of the best in awhile). The window is closing, he had to do something to take advantage well he could.

As for the trade it was actually pretty good for both sides. The problem is...besides drafting cutler and denver's draft class last year they have had a poor record of drafting players in previous years, because they seem to draft too far on need as opposed to taking the best player available. Getting Kyle Orton as a "Throw in" is a great stop gap as well. I just hope Denver doesn't waste the picks. As for the Bears they get a franchise QB for the next 10-12 years. So the 2009 and 2010 drafts are a little weak...the ones after will be strong for the bears and Cutler will still be young... |

Bears fans will eat him up if he pulls some BS. They will boo him back to the bench. They don't tolerate divas.

No surprise there.
Cutler's ego/fragility will be his downfall in Chicago.

kyle orton wins football games. hes a good qb. cutler though is a potential franchise qb. all you naysayers are gonna be pretty disappointed when the bears are at least 10-6 this year. who cares about his denver record we're not transplanting denvers team with him. its just cutler and hes awesome. and denver has sucked in his tenure. he cant help that.

But look at what he had to work with in Denver. Chicago's receivers aren't any where near the level of Denvers. Chicago's O-Line is subpar compared to Denvers. Without good protection, no QB (no matter how skilled or "awesome") is going to amount to a hill of beans. And you don't need "name" talent (like Pace) to have a good O-Line, look at the Pats O-Line of high rounders and undrafted. They have 1 first round draft pick and that O-Line is great. Who's Cutler going to throw to? That Orton was able to win with the Bears is a testiment to how good he can be. I have better feelings about the Mediocre QBs going to a good team then I do about Good QBs going to a bad team. Cutler is still relatively unproven.
