Well the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con is June 19-21st and I am going on the 20th. While most stuff there is Comic related, there are tons of other things going on--a big for Joe fans is the fact that Ray Parks is scheduled to be there. Yep I'm gonna go meet Snake Eyes!
Any other tankers goin? Any tankers from the Lehigh Valley? (I got room in the car if any of ya need a ride down!) If any tankers are goin on Saturday would ya like to meet up? |

No exclusives that I know of. In the past few years that I have gone I do not believe Hasbro has even had a booth there, but it is a chance to meet Ray Parks and thee are usually tons of toy dealers. Star Wars, superhero stuff and Joes! Plus millions of comics! Tons of sellers with box after box of dollar comics. A great way to pick up some of those older Joe comics you might be lookin for.

i went last year. it was my first and last convention i have ever gone to or will ever go to. loads of vendors, but everything was ridiculously overpriced... toy-wise, anyway (i don't collect comics other than Joe, so i don't know about that part of it). plus, the patrons - for the most part - were just a rabble of vile, vile people whose pastimes seem to be pushing/shoving, obnoxiousness and odor emanation. i am a collector, so i hate to endorse any stereotypes of my own breed... but it was like a huge building full of Comic Book Guy's from the Simpsons.
in summation... i don't recommend attending. the only reason i can think of to attend would be if you are interested in meeting quasi-celebrity types, which i have no interest in. some of my friends like that sort of thing, so i went. to give you an idea of what you are in for: the Iron Sheik insulted me last year. whatever. Sorry you had a bad time. I go every year and always have a blast. A lot of the things you mentioned are just part of going out into the general public. Not all of us are like that. If you are not a Comic Book Fan I guess you don't find a large volume of appealing things at a Comic Book Convention. As far as stuff bein overpriced? It depends on what you are looking for. I come home every year with plenty of bargains.

I made my initial Wizard World yesterday. Fantastic time. I'll definitely be there the next time as long as I have someone who'll go with me. We had far too much fun. Some impressions:
- They had a decent amount of Joe stuff. I didn't bite on anything but we glanced through the loose Joe bins for a while, my buddy contemplated picking up some back issues of the Joe comic and eventually picked up a Comic Pack he missed. - Everything Emma Caulfield is phenomenal. That was what really pushed me over the edge to go. Favorite show, favorite character, etc. Really nice and her Q&A was hysterical. - Kristianna Loken is the best looking person I have ever seen. Just utterly fantastic looking in every way. I actually think she looked better there than in any picture of movie I've seen. She seemed really cool with the people in her autograph line. - K.I.T.T. was there! Lou Ferrigno (who flexes his left bicep at random times), Peter Mayhew, Ray Park (who by far had the longest autograph line that I saw - massive Darth Maul and Snake Eyes stuff), Marina Sirtis, etc, etc. - I caught a Storm Trooper in a heated battle of Call of Duty 4. - A lot of decent costumes, some not very flattering, but altogether they were entertaining. My camera bricked while I was at the show but I had a backup video camera so I took some videos: YouTube - OrzoEntertainment's Channel I still have a few to upload, notably the first 25 minutes of Emma Caulfield's Q&A - held my arm up for 25 minutes, then got tired, then someone asked about the new rumored Buffy movie so I picked up from there until the space on my camera ran out. That second part is up, it's like 5 minutes in length, I think. Most of the clips are real short since I more or less used it as my camera, but I usually view a lot of the pictures here without contributing so hopefully someone will get some amusement out of them. P.S. Talking about things being overpriced. My buddy picked up a MC Hammer doll for $10. That is a bargain if I ever saw one. Last edited by Hit & Run; 06-21-2009 at 10:07 AM.. |

My kid got a SkyHawk for $15.00 bucks. You can't find that price at Wal-Mart. I bought several graphic novels at 50% off--good stuff too. I picked up some Star Wars figures for $4.00 a piece. There are plenty of bargains to be had.
Getting to meet and talk to Ray Park was a bargain in itself! |

My buddy found a few things he wanted cheap. There were some crazy prices as to be expected, but you could have gotten some decent older stuff on the cheap side. Especially the bins of open figures. Old Star Wars, Transformers, GI Joes, PotF Star Wars figures, you could pick up a lot really cheap.
I was surprised of the lack of M.A.S.K. and Turtles though. I just assumed there would be massive M.A.S.K. stuff for some reason. I think I only saw one actual thing from the cartoon and the Joe - Matt Tracker figure. |

Me and a buddy went down on Saturday, it was packed. We had gone to the previous two on a Sunday, which is alot better, imo. The Terminator 3 (KL)was very beautiful, whoever posted that, I bought a couple of loose Joes and meeting Ray Park again was great. Also got to talk with the Honky Tonk Man (the Greatest IC Champion of all time)!
