First time I've ever heard the term, I'm guessing it's a play on Cyber/Steampunk?
So that probably means it's sort of a mix of the two, with traditional fantasy elements (ie: Dragons, Elves, etc.) being the main influence but with a more dark and gritty look and feel. The Shadowrun series is probably a good example but that's just a guess. I have one of the books but never got around to reading it, Glen Cook's Garrett P.I. series might be worth looking into. |

I think Matt Sturges' new book would probably fit. Never heard the term before. Where/what did you hear it in reference to?
Amazon.com: Midwinter: Matthew Sturges: Books It's not a traditional straight-up sword and sorcery fantasy, there's more political elements to it. I'm not sure what Dungeonpunk is so I really have no idea.

Dungeon Punk - Television Tropes & Idioms
Sounds like someone just trying to come up with a "catchphrase" to try and create a new genre of fantasy.

True but there are fantasy elements in Shadowrun too. I always considered it a mix of Cyberpunk and Fantasy since you have magic, dwarves, elves, orcs, etc.
Cyberpunk is more about technology rather than magic. |
