So last weekend, I was outside my job having a ciggarette. I know its gross, but half of us dancers smoke to stay thin and reading a Rom the spaceknight comic. It was during my break and during that I normally like to read and relax.
So this big guy comes up to me and says, "You reading a comic book? What is a girl like you doing reading a comic?" I then said, "I happen to find them very entertaining" and I put my nose up at him. He tried to give me a 10$ tip later and I told him, "I don't want your money, but I'll take it anyways" So pretty much, I'm proud to be a geek and no one better attempt to tred on that. |

I can't lie, I'm a little b!tch......
No nerdy-ness here. Outside of my wife, and she doesn't know the half of it, not a single soul knows I collect GI Joe. To see me, you would NEVER think that about me. Needless to say, if my friends found out, they would probably still be my friends, but...... some of them would definitely give me a hard time about it and bust my balls. I'm a closet Joe fan.. I think...... I think if I made it obvious, and that's never been my style to begin with, not with anything, I don't know that I have the temperment to take the grilling that I would get. So, really, thats my reason for not disclosing my hobby. I like to be happy and I think if someone started giving me a hard time about it I'd want to break their neck. :-) |

I have over 400 comic style t-shirts that I wear every day. My basement is like a comic shop, and I have more stuff in my storage unit than a good sized comic and toy store. I've collected since 1977 and don't care who knows. I read sci-fi and fiction at work (actually the only person in my plant who reads on break).

I always have my shipments from bbts or hts shipped to my work. Nobody knows what I always order but I finally got caught when ordering doc., The outer packaging has the big ass GI joe logo on it. Boy was I embarrassed when 4 of those boxes came and my bosses wife handed them to me and said, "still playing with GI joes huh?" I stood there and gave her an innocent smile.

I like to be happy and I think if someone started giving me a hard time about it I'd want to break their neck. :-) Surprisingly only one of my friends gives me shit about it. It doesn't make much sense either because back in the late 90's the two of us would make the rounds tracking down Spawn toys. The day I found Malbolgia was huge, he was pissed because he drove and thought he should get it. Man he would give me his keys and credit card if he had to work on hunt day. Hell we used to go from the hunt straight to work, wait till the boss would leave then set up our new toys on the prep counter and shoot them down with rubber bands. Over the years he's become very critical about peoples opinions, and me well I care less now then ever before. I guess what I'm getting at is I'm too old for peer pressure to even be a factor. Dude I wouldn't worry about what your friends think of your "secret", if they can't accept it they're not really your friends anyway. |
