When it starts or kicks in you think you are crazy. Booze and drugs dull it but doesnt get rid of it. Most times an older or more experienced seer steps in and gives some tips on dealing with it. I have spotted a few by just knowing they can see but I am not as good as some others. Mine started in my late teens with de ja vue and escaladed big time. I had grown up in a haunted house and believed in ghost but thought psychics were BS. I saw things, new history of people I never met, could look at a picture and get something about the person that the picture had nothing to do with, but the hardest part was dealing with seeing things that are to happen. Once they started happening I would whisper to my wife and tell her everything that was about to happen within minutes of it happening and with great detail. It about drove me crazy, luckily I had her and she too had experiences with Paranormal things and I met an old preacher who said he saw it the moment he met me. He helped with learning to shut it out most of the time and just go with it when you cant.
Speaking of deja vu...I have a lot of that sometimes and I remember after that experience in Vegas with my girl we tried to find books on it, but there was absolutely nothing. I could not find one book on deja vu or anything that explains it, theories, opinions, beliefs...nothing!

I have a pretty active imagination myself, but damn that. I've had a few things happen to me when I was alone that I got kinda creeped out, but probably nothing more than an active imagination as a kid. I can explain away things with pretty logical reasoning. Houses creaking, drafts, television sounds... But some of that stuff he said? I swear man, if I ever open a closet and see Gollum staring at me or some Harry-Potter-Dementor-looking-thing floating above my bed at night, I will shit my pajamas, and then immediately die. You'll know what happened when you see my obituary, and it says I died mysteriously in the night, in shitty pants. |

I love good ghost stories, but I don't so much believe in ghosts. I sometimes like to watch documentary-style shows on hauntings, but I can't stand those ghost hunter-type programs. I especially don't like the ones where you can't see anything and you can't hear anything because the swear words are bleeped out. A well-executed movie about ghosts, however, is what I enjoy (like The Orphanage).
While being home alone in the dark may creep me out, I'm much more scared of an actual person breaking into my house (much more so now that I have kids) than I am of seeing anything supernatural.

I know what you mean...the thing I like about this Discovery Channel one is that they sometimes show the "actual photos" from the homes and that's pretty cool

Ghosts and spirits don't exist. It's the product of fertile imaginations.

No more good stories? Damn. I thankfully don't have any, I was hoping there were more. I love all those shows. I'll even watch ghost hunters. At least it's better than Monsterquest on the History channel. That show is a complete let down.

Come to think about it I actually do have one more, I've only told my immediate family about this one...it's not so much a ghost story but just something that was a little odd. When my son was about 6 months old (he's 8 now) I was laying in bed he was in the middle and my (ex) wife on the other side. I woke up in the middle of the night probably around 2am or so, I had just had a bad dream and was laying there for a minute when all of a sudden there was this light that went over his face and chest. It basically looked like someone was shining a flashlight on him, mind you it was pitch black in the room and since the window next to the bed was to our back yard...I thought maybe someone was out there with a flashlight or maybe a neighbor turned on a porchlight or something? So I pulled the blinds down and it was completely dark out there...I held them down with my hand and looked at my son again at the same time and it was still on him...it lasted for maybe 15-20 seconds and it was gone but that was seriously weird

I tend to think that a LOT of stuff that I've seen that I chalk up as creepy has some explanations... Granted, I've never had anything happen to me first-hand besides the girl telling me about my house being haunted, but that wasn't like seeing some "ghost" or whatever in person...
I've got close friends who have had really really creepy stuff happen to them: (all from my friend Zach, who lived in the ECU house) • cabinets open every morning • old phone ringing up stairs when there was no phone • footsteps • things getting knocked off walls • door lock in bathroom unlocking by itself And Matt's account of the creepy house poltergeist floating above the bed... but other than that, I've seen some "unexplainable" weird stuff, but nothing that couldn't have some semi-logical explanation. Seeing spirits and hearing footsteps when there aren't any, and shit moving around on its own... That's getting in the realm of "I don't want to see it". |

You are confused. I KNOW they don't exist. You believe they do.
I know you won't do this, but really think about it. If there was such things, wouldn't they be literally be everywhere? The earth has been here millions of years. I would imagine the billions of people who have expired would be haunting every corner of the globe by now. But I guess that only happens in Connecticut and Indian tribal burial grounds. By the way Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and jackalopes don't exist either. |
