my best card ever was a 1909 T206 Ty Cobb that I bought when I owned my sports shop. I paid $50 for it in about a 2 condition.(it had a nail hole through it as it had been used for subflooring in a house. I ended up putting it on display and someone offered me $1000 for it, so I sold it.
Now my best cards are a Josh Gibson bat card, Jordan 2nd year, Namath 2nd year, 1957 Clemente, and Walter Payton RC.

I'd say I have about 100 complete sets of sports cards...mostly from junk in the 86 to 95 era.
I also have about 15 binders full of random cards, organized by team and in chronological order, dating back to the early 50's. It's pretty cool, because each acts like a scrapbook of each team's history. You can see how the rosters, uniforms and fortunes of each team evolved. You can also see how a team moved, which applies to franchises like the A's, Giants, Twins, Expos and Rangers. I have a full binder, each, of my two favorite teams: Pirates and Broncos. I try to get at least one complete team set, per year, of each of those. My Bronco book has a team set all the way back to the 60's, but I have trouble getting complete Pirate sets from 1969 and earlier (has to do with some guy named "Clemente"). It's easier to buy cards, nowadays, than it was in the 90's. Buying's easy on eBay, but selling is rather tough there. Unless you have something pre-1984, it seems you have to under-price your cards to get any type of selling bites. Tough to sell full boxes on there, as well, due to the shipping rates.
